Sounds like you tightened it too much. I usually put the bottle between my legs and turn the handle. works for me...... If you can't ask someone for help who may be stronger...... Good Luck.

I have that trouble, too, because of the pressure build-up. Being an older woman, I don't have the strength to use a long screwdriver or something for leverage any more. Instead, I loosen the hose connection to release the pressure inside. Then the top screws off easily. It's a nuisance because you have to tighten the hose again, but it works. I used to take it over to my brother's farm to use the vise and crowbar, but I was quite happy to figure this out.

Also, before your first use (and at other times), if you put some vaseline on the hose connection before you screw it on, it will seal it better. My dad taught me that years ago.

Is there a trick to getting the top off to fill the sprayer. I cannot get the top loose.

This sprayer is an improvement over the old Roundup sprayer I have been using for years.

I like this sprayer it works great and it doesn't leak the sprayer handle is nice and smooth and doesn't stick

Its made well for durability, looking forward to using it this spring,im extremely satisfied.

Amazing quality

Bought this pump for my husband and with-in a month there was no pressure when you pumped it, M20P16, just gurgling sounds. Checked the o-ring at the neck of the pump it looked fine, but no pressure, so disappointed. UGH

Have 2 chemical sprayers back to back in first couple of limited usage both gasket loosen up do not seal airtight from that point on. Zep hand held sprayer is more reliable. Do not purchase.

Garbage product!

Roundup sprayers have been cheaped out - the brand name is no assurance of quality. Every aspect of the sprayer is plastic, the cheapest thinnest and shoddy design and plastic imaginable. Bought one yesterday (4-27-19) at my local Walmart store (Murrieta, CA). It was missing a critical part.  I cannibalized the part off my old Roundup sprayer. Then, within 10 minutes of use, the trigger mechanism broke. There's no markings on the side of the tank to indicate water level in gallons. Manufacturer says customer can't return the unit to the store. Don't buy, it's not the Roundup sprayer you remember.

This is my secco purchase of this sprayer and neither of them worked.  Followed the directions and even went on the Internet to troubleshoot....piece of junk!

Poor product

I tested the sprayer as per manufacture's recommendations then filled with Roundup, pumped it up, and began spraying. When I tried to pump it up again it would not pressurize the sprayer. I disassembled the pump as per manufacture's recommendations, packed it with Vaseline, and tried to pump it up. It would not pump up!!!

Don't waist your money.
