I have a large male cat that gets in with no problems. He's probably bigger than your dog so "yes".

The way the box is set up, I think your dog would have a pretty tough time trying to sneek a snack! The box is large but I think he is to big to fit inside and walk up the stairs.

I have two small dogs and they can't get in this box.

My 11 pound dog leaves it alone. I don't think a 20 pound dog would fit, but if he was really determined, he might get the hood off.

I think the stairs & the need to hop over a little raised lip will most likely keep your dog out.

It's possible because it has a half wall that separates staircase from litter. He might be able to reach in.

No. I have a 7 and 35 lb dog and for the first time they can't get up the stairs and down into the litter area. This was my main purpose for buying this litter box and I have been thrilled with the results.

I think he could knock the hood off quite easily & get to whatever he wants. I think the lid/hood could use a couple of latches, myself.

I wouldn't think so. I do not have a dog, so I'm not 100% sure, but there is a wall beside the stair case that keeps the litter in so given his size, I would think it would keep him out.

YES! Lid doesn&#39;t fit well. Cat going in, bumping head, coming out or dog tries to enter. Lid will easily fall off. Animals aren&#39;t stupid. If Dog sees how he did it once, he&#39;ll do it again. Specially if it&#39;s something he really wants..

I have a 20 pound Shih Tzu dog. Do you think he will be able to get to the little treats he finds so tasty inside this box - with the stairs and hood

I use tidy cat scoop litter and I do see some dust but only inside the litter box but I also clean the box monthly with dish soap and a little bleach which helps eliminate some of the dust. Yes it's a bit of a pain but it's nice when I hear friends say they cant smell the box and it is in my room by my bed.

Yes you still have the litter dust and some litter. Even the steps do not stop all of it. It is also much bigger than the photos and measurements seem to show.

The tracking with the crystal and pressed pine litters that I blend myself and have used and am still using has diminished a great deal using this box by 85-90%. It's so much better! I recommend getting a litter pad to place at the entrance, like I did, to catch any litter that does make it down the ramp. I think you'll love this box.

No dust - very little litter gets tracked out

I havent had any problems with the dust just when I first fill up the litter box.

Thanks to everyone who answered. I ended up keeping my original enclosed litter box and began using Arm & Hammer's New Essentials Cat litter. Zero dust. I love it and Walmart carries it!

It might depend on the litter you use. We didn't have a big problem with dust or tracking, probably because of the stairs.

The covering on this box is quite secure (zero gap between the top and bottom) and it has a smaller circular opening than traditional covered litter boxes. Both of these features should help with your dust issue. You might consider trying a different brand of litter as well. None of the clay litters are completely dust free but some are more dusty than others.

It has cut down a lot with the litter dust.

Only when filling with new litter. I just leave my vacuum cleaner on with the hose propped in the corner and the litter dust goes right into the sweeper. During everyday use there is no litter dust as the dome design prevents any dust from getting out of the litter box.

My 18 pound cat uses it with no problem at all. The opening to the stairs and the litter box inside is very large so I think your cat will have no problem at all

Yes, my male cat, Jasper, is 17 pounds and almost a solid 2 ft. as well and he uses the box. He had to take a moment to figure out the process of fitting in there but, trust me, he will figure it out and use the box.
