I just used a nylon paintbrush. I bought mine at Joanne's Fabrics since they have a teacher's discount.

We used a cheap throw-away paintbrush to apply the etching liquid.

you can use model car or other type of natural or synthetic brushes. The etching creme is water base and can be washed off with water. I bought a huge set of paintbrushes in the craft section of walmart. about $6.00.

Wear thick rubber gloves and use a brush good to the point where it does NOT flick the burning liquid back at you. If you only have an old toothbrush that is fine too. Just make sure you scrub gentley so it does NOT splash!!!!!!!!!!

No, it will not look good on a door. Poor quality both in depth of the etching and evenness.

What tool can you use to apply the etching liquid?

I started with a 2 oz bottle and I was able to etch last names on the side of 7 cake pans, etch designs on the side of 10 root beer mugs and also etch a design on the glass of a picture frame from that little bottle. However, after the etching time was up, I would scrape the excess cream back into the bottle to use later. This bottle is 5 times the size that mine was. You should be able to do a lot of projects with it!

A BUNCH! You can reuse the cream. After applying and waiting the appropriate time, scrap cream back into bottle.

How many projects does the 10oz. bottle do?

if the glass has pyrex in it most likely not.

This works great, it is easy to do and does a great job. Clean up was fast and easy. You use very little to do your project. This was my first time doing a project like this. My wine glasses turned out perfect.

I have a pair of eyeglasses with nice frames that I've been using for years and have been having new lenses put in the frames. The prescription of the most recent set of photo-chromatic lenses was still good but the coating on both the front and back of the lenses had worn down and I could no longer see clearly due to the degradation of the coating. Enter Armour Etch. I applied the creamy like coating to both sides of the lenses with a Q-tip and let it sit for 5 minutes and rinsed and about 90% of the coating was gone. So I did a second application of the lenses doing light rubbing and left on for another 5 minutes and this removed most of the remaining coating. I then did a third application with concentration on the small area of remaing coating while doing light rubbing and left on for another 5 minutes. After this rinse all coating was gone and the plastic lenses were undamaged and were like new. It did not affect the photo-chromatic characteristic of the lenses and I don't miss the coating. I spent $11 on the acid instead of $60 for new lenses. I hope the Armour Etch has a long shelf life because the amount you will use is minimal and I may find another use for it in the future. Highly recommended for PLASTIC eyeglass lens coating removal.

Great for plastic eyeglass coating removal

Works great but I didn't know it all needs to be put on at once. I had a big project so it's splotchy because of my user error.

Great product, takes a little practice.

I followed the instructions I found on many internet forums about removing the anti-glare coating on eyeglasses lenses that had been ruined by contact with water. It worked perfectly and now my plastic lenses are crystal clear again. DO NOT USE THIS ON GLASS LENSES as it would etch them. Also there are some types of plastic that could be harmed, so be sure to read many forum postings and carefully follow instructions. Also, only do this on a spare pair of glasses and while wearing gloves and safety goggles. This procedure was risky, but it paid off for me in this case. If you cannot follow instructions or don't feel comfortable with extremely dangerous chemicals, do not do this procedure as it could be life or eyesight threatening if done incorrectly. I work in my own laboratory and as such, I felt safe doing this procedure while wearing safety equipment.

Bought this to remove coating from plastic lenses.

I had some reservations due to the acidic nature of the product, however with careful application this product worked better than I ever expected!

Libbey's wine glasses must contain Pyrex. Libbey's Wine Glass Box does not say so. Tried putting the etching creme on twice, just looked botched. For regular glass it may do well.

Does not work on Libbey's stemless wine glasses

I ordered Site to Store this bottle of etching cream, since the store does NOT carry it, which I think they should. When I picked it up, the bottle leaked clear liquid in the shipping bag. I needed the etching cream for a group project I was in charge of and did not have time to order in another bottle. I shook the bottle well and gave it a test try....it did what it was suppose to do with some effort. It seems the product had settled and started to crystallize. As long as a THICK coat of product was used it worked. Next time, order two or more bottles and hope for fresher product.
