Its 5 total for daytime songs. Anyway the toy is so cute it doesn't matter! Your child will have fun with it no matter what.

There can only be 5 Day songs and 5 night songs. When you download the program, it lets you listen to them before you select them.

Five total. You can pick from a large group of song all of which have previews on the downloadable program. There are also age related groups to chose from starting at infant up...

You can only have 10 total at a time (5 daytime and 5 nightime), some are preloaded but you can remove those and put the ones your child likes.

It was 5 playtime songs and 5 lullabies but there were a bunch to pick from and you can change them whenever you like.

Be aware, the newer version, Summer 2014 or later, does not have this feature. You cannot customize the songs. Only the older versions (prior to summer 2014) have this feature. I am so disappointed with the downgrade.

When it says that the songs are already on the toy, does that mean that you can add 5 more songs? Or can their only be 5 total?

not at all! There is a fairly large selection and they are included with your purchase of the toy. You can also exchange songs as often as you like. The best thing? The songs are not at all irritating and don't make you want to wear earplugs. They're crisp and clear and surprisingly enjoyable. =)

No, but it does not have a large selection of songs to choose from, and they are pretty much all instrumentals. My daughter still loves her pal Violet, and the night songs ease her to sleep. You can set it for 2, 5, or 10 minutes of music!

Do you have to pay for the downloaded songs?

You won't be able to tell. My daughters name isn't even on the list so I had to pick the saying "Little Monkey" which was fine because thats what her daddy calls her! Her name is Analiese.

spell the name click preview button it will try to say the name or you could also try to spell it a bit differently to try to get the same sounds you could also try getting it to say a knickname my nephews name is Azriel and we couldn't get it to say azriel nor could we change the spelling to get it to sound right his Dad call him buddy boy so we set it up so the toy say hi buddy boy and left the name slot blank.

Once Violet is plugged in, you type the name, and Violet or the male version says it, so the names are not preloaded, its more like a computer.

My daughter's name is Kaylei (like Kayleigh). It is a common name around here, but the way i spwlled it is sort of weird i guess. I was worried about Violet not being able to say her name or spell it right. But, when i hooked her up to the computer, it was so easy. You type in the childs name(with the correct spelling) and it will pop up how to pronounce the name. All you do is click on the pronounciation and you can listen to make sure it says it right. It was so easy and i would def. reccomend this!!

you have the choice of many different names and pronunciations. (even pronunciations from different countries) If you dont find a correct spelling, you can choose a name that is pronounced the same, then load the correct spelling onto the dog and when it spells her name in song, it will spell it correctly. When you download the program, you will enter your child's name. For the songs, it will spell the name whichever way you spell it. After you type in the name, you will have a list of names, where you can preview Violet saying the name to make sure it says it correctly. We had no problem.

they have an extensive name key with a lot of different names and spellings. Some names will have the same spelling but different pronunciations so you can try them all and get it right! If they don't have her name they also have a lot of nicknames like princess and stuff like that that you can choose. It still gives you the option to spell your child's name and violet will spell it out in a song to teach your child even if her pronunciation isn't there.

There is a large listing. while it may not say the name in this case it will still spell it out in a song and may have a name listed that sounds close enough to get by. (eg. Corvin and Corbin for boys.)

you can check it when you load the name on. my daughter has a unique name and it gave me 3 different soundings.

You put in the spelling on your own...my daughter's name is Londyn and it was in there. If you can't find it you can submit the name to them so they can add it...but you can choose the way to pronounce it. It gives you options like for 'Lon'~lun or luhn and 'dyn'~dun or duhn (it gives you several options). If it isn't in there you should be able to put the correct spelling in and pick the correct pronuncitian.

My grandaughter's name is very different with a unique spelling. How can I be sure that the toy will pronounce it correctly?
