This porcelain enamel on cast iron Dutch oven is cast from molten iron in individual sand molds. Each cast iron piece is hand-prepared before several layers of porcelain enamel are applied and baked. Cast iron has superior heat distribution and retention, which evenly heats food and reduces the amount of energy needed for cooking.
