Yes it will work with vista. My laptop has vista on it.

I use my rangmax router with a hughesnet satellite broadband modem. I am not sure what a mercury connect card is but I don't need a phone line for my application.

Will the netgear rangemax router work with a mercury connect card or does it have to be connected to a phoneline?

I had the same old router (wgr614)with the same problem.When it finally died I bought this one and it works great! My laptop now has full signal in my family room , were as before it usualy only had one or two in my from the old router.I can now use my laptop everywhere in my house,yard and even in my neighbors yard!

I didn't need to buy anything else,but I did have to reset'default the the new router before I could get the install Cd to work

We bought this for a present for my mother who is not able to get around as easily as she used to. We got her a laptop, but needed to get a router that would boost the range of the connection to anywhere in the house. This product did wonderfully. There were no dead spots anywhere in the home. Satisfied? Yes!

Great range and connection

I like work with this item, that give me the freedom that I want I hate wires.
The installation was very easy automatic just find some things from the network didn't use the installation CD.

Very Nice product

I recently purchased this product at my local Wal-Mart after read several positive reviews posted here. The setup was pretty simple. I am by no means a networking specialist but I currently have three laptops running off of this wireless router. Everything you need to set it up comes in the box. The thing I like most about this product is the freedom to take my laptop anywhere in the house. I have only had this product for a few days but it seems to be running perfectly. I am thinking of getting my dad one for fathers day so he can enjoy the freedom that I have. Another neat feature is the blue lights on top of the router as it is working they flash off and on. At night the router doubles as a night-light.

Great Wireless Router

It took me 1/2 hr to set up like the instructions said. I also took the advice of another reviewer & printed out the directions before installing it because there are no printed instructions. It works great & I have never lost the connection like the Linksys piece of junk I had.

Easy Setup

This product is very sleek and nice looking, and works amazing, but be prepared to spend about 4 hours to set up. I'm sure it would be much faster if you know what PPPoE, IP, wireless channels, etc. are. Couple tips from my experience: know your host name, domain name, domain name server (DNS) address, and your IP address. You can call your ISP for all that.
All in all, great product if you are willing to put in the time and effort, but if you are not tech savy or don't have the time, don't pick this.

good if you are tech savy

I carefully researched and purchased this product to increase my wireless signal(one bar) at 90 feet. I also purchased the companion 511 card. The ads promised increases of up to 10 times. The router was easy to set up; the card less easy. The result was still one bar signal strength at 90 feet - it was no better than the existing Netgear 814 combo modem/router and Dell 1350 card. This was a real disappointment to me - I returned both products for a refund.

No additional range from 824

Did not work out of the box. Provided installation assistant did not function. 24hr tech support number did not provide tech support. When found, tech support wanted me to disable privacy settings, allow cookies from 3rd parties, and change my email client! (they've not heard of Thunderbird!!). Took it back for linksys WRT110. Setup in 5 minutes! Works flawlessly. Linksys is a great product.

Don't believe +reviews!!

I don't usually write reviews on products but I felt I had an obligation to write about this one. This is an extremely unstable product with terrible customer service which by the what you will need everytime you connect a new device to your network. Everytime a new device was introduced to my network I spent at least an hour and a half on the phone with netgear trying to get it to work. Switched to a Linksys system and after initial setup it works flawlessly with every device introduced to it. I had an older netgear router for years that worked like a champ, but when I "upgraded" to the Rangemax everything went downhill.

Keep Away From This Product

I bought this router because I heard Net Gear was really easy to use. This does not apply to this router! The directions, which are only on the CD and not in print, make no sense. I tried doing it from what I could make out with the "instructions" and it kept telling me a connection was unavailable! I tried every possible way of hooking this up, and after nothing worked I put it back in the box. It's going back tomorrow! DO NOT BUY THIS unless you're used to installing them or have a computer whiz with you.

How do you connect this??

I bought this product about 6 months ago and it worked fine at first untill it couldn't handle my xbox 360 live connection plus the product takes forever to program and its not worth buying. Buy a router that can handle more than 100 mbps if you want one for your xbox or ps3.
