It was offered as a 1 piece rod a couple years back but now I've only seen it sold in the 2 piece model. I have one of each and both are the best rod/reels I own for bass fishing.

No all you will need is tackle and bait. Most come with line already on them but if not it tells you right on the reel what kind and how much it will hold. Spinning reels are a little tricky to get the hang of but once you do it is well worth it. Good luck!

I know it's probably a dumb question, but do you need to buy any other parts besides fishing line to use a combo?

I wouldn't recommend it because of the spool size. It doesn't hold too much, especially when you get above 10 lb. test (mono). The rod seems capable of handling salmon though. I haven't been salmon fishing before, but you might want to go with a heavy action rod for salmon given the 12-30lb range.

Personally, I think this rod is too light for salmon.

I couldn't beleive value I was getting on this combo. Both the graphite rod and the reel with its smooth action are first rate.I was surprised at how far it cast with so little effort and at how smooth the retrieve was. This is definitely one of those rare occasions where you actually get more than you paid for; 60 bills well spent.Hey now!

What a deal!

I bought this combo( 1 piece 7' rod) on sale at first i thought it was over priced an passed it by for weeks finally it went on sale and since, i don't leave home without it!!!!!!
then it broke and i was sooo hurt, so i contacted fenwick rod and found that the rod has a five year warrenty they replaced the broke one and i purchaced two more THE BEST ROD AND REEL COMBO i have ever purchased in my 20+ years of fishing i would recommend to buy for it is worth the money and some

my goto rod and reel

This combo is AMAZING. I bought one 2 years ago when the 1 piece 7 foot rod was offered, actually got it on clearance for $45, and later broke the tip. I replaced the tip and it still performs well even minus a couple inches, it's a Fenwick after all. I caught an 8 pound carp and numerous smallies on Big Horn Lake in MT this summer with it. I bought another one, the 2 piece model, a year later and I use it for bass here in the midwest. It's the perfect combo paired with my favorite lure, the swimming senko and 10 pound line, and will cast this lure a mile and handle any fish. I buy a lot of my gear from wal mart and every time I see this combo I have to do everything in my power not to buy a third but I'm sure I will eventually. YOU NEED THIS!

Perfectly Matched Combo...MUST BUY!

This combo is a steal. Both the rod and the reel are each worth the price of the combo.

I bought one of these combos in June 2009. I was so pleased with the nice balance of this rod and reel combo that I've since bought three more.

This combo is very nicely matched. The Fenwick rod balances perfectly with this Abu Garcia reel mounted. At seven feet, the length of the rod could pose a challenge to transport safely. But being a two-piece rod, it breaks down into an easily manageable length. The ferrules fit nice and tight.

The rod features NINE guides! It's a top rate rod. And with seven bearings, the reel is super smooth.

this is the best combo for the price anywhere,i have combos that i have paid 3 times as much but i like this one the best, you cant beat the fenwick rod and of course the abu garcia 302 reel too. i am going to buy 2 more for christmas gifts,and maybe i can get me one more also..GREAT PRODUCT!!

Very nice combo!

I bought this combo last year and some body stole it while its wasn't fishing seaso. Disapionted I egerly waited to find this product again. This product is great for starters and long-time fishermen. Smooth as a baby's bottom for casting. Great for people who like to use lures, and for bait fishing. The cork and graphite rod gives the fishing pole a one of akind look. If you want a reliable fishing pole I recommend this combo for everybody weather left had or right had, new to fishing or long-time fisherman its a product that you want turst me. :)

The Best Rod and Reel ever

A friend who's father owns a marina recommended this combo to me and I love it. Please note as one other reviewer said it is a 2 piece rod, the item discription is wrong in that it says 1 piece rod but it stays together well and is a very nice attractive graphite 2 piece rod.

Best Buy for the $

This is the best Combo product in the Market, for the price. I bought the reel by itself at a different store for over $40 dollars. This Rod and Reel Combo is great:
-Good casting distance and accuracy
-Great quality, have had it for over 3 months with no problems.
-I had to go buy another Combo before they sold out.
-I buy all my fishing gear from Walmart, nobody beats their good deals.

I love this product, it is a steal for the price.....if you are an avid Spinning fisherman like me, you need to buy this Combo.

The best Combo for the price!

This is an excellent product. I caught three bass on it already. It casts far even with 10 or 12 lb. line on the reel. The reason why I gave it a four all around is because of the line capacity for the reel. Another spool would've helped it get a five, or at least another 50 yds. of 12 lb. line. It is worth the investment if you don't mind a smaller spool given it's a 7' rod. Both rod and reel seem like they will hold big fish well for many years.
