Durable and decorative
These wrought iron style fence add ons have changed the way my whole yard looks. I love the classic style and black goes with any decor I put out to decorate with. They are very durable and easy to use by just pushing into the ground. No digging so super easy setup. No more rodents or cats in my flower beds. Comes with 1 year warranty but you will never need it. These are awesome They hold up to the weather very well.
Very easy to assemble
This review is for the Expert Gardner Empire garden border. This is very pretty. I am not handy. Usually my fiance puts things together for me. But I was able to assemble this on my own. The pieces snap together very easily. You could add more if you have a bigger area. I will need to buy more to have enough to put around my flower patch. These could be used along a pathway especially if you don't want people walking on your lawn. It has been muggy, hot, and raining here. But the borders have not been affected. They are made of strong material so they should last a long time. I couldn't find any negatives with this product. I definitely recommend this especially to someone who isn't very handy but would like to put together an easy project.
Absolutely love !!!
As a gardener, some reliable fencing is a must have ! For years I
have dealt with many types of borders and fencing. Nothing was
easy, reliable or well made. This is absolutely awesome ! The fence
sections came 4 to a pack with rubber tips on the bottom of the
pieces. This was so very easy to install, no bending or breaking. It
easily adapts to corners and goes in the ground so easy. The tips
that go in the ground are pointed and strong, so no problems
there at all. The hooks easy line up to attach and the pieces stay
firm in the ground. I am very happy with this fencing, would highly
recommend it and am going to purchase more sections. Love it !!!
No cheap look here.
This borders will definitely go around the little flower set up I have in my backyard. They hook into each other and are very study. We've had heat indexes of 115 here in South Texas so doing any gardening is out of the question right now. I recieved four borders and that perfect for what I have planned. Time will tell if they start to rust due to the elements.
a well designed and well made Border.
The Expert Gardener Empire Powder Coated Steel Garden Border is a fine product that I find to be superior to many popular competitors in several areas. First of all is the material. It is constructed from powdered coated steel instead of the plastic or hard vinyl of other borders. If you've ever tried to push those plastic borders into the hard ground, you know how they twist and bend, making a sharp looking border impossible. The Expert Gardener Border features strong, sharp, steel feet which extend 6 inches into the ground, guaranteeing a solid foundation. Secondly, is the size. Each panel is about 18 inches high so it will serve tall flower gardens well. Third is the connecting system. I really like this. Each panel contains a male and a female end. Each end has two connectors to keep the fence straight and they are integrated into the fence itself so you don't have the worry of losing those loose connecting pins that come with other borders. And the connections allow for almost a 360 degree range of motion so you can shape this fence any way you wish. I personally think that this type border looks best with 90 degree turns, but it could also work well as a wide circular border around a landscape or a tree. I used mine, as the picture shows, as a surround for an accent plant. This not the best use of this border as it would be far more striking in a long, straight run, but since I had only 4 panels, my choices were limited. In conclusion, the Expert Gardener Garden Border is a fine product. I can find no flaws in it and I would recommend it to my friends
I love the unique look of this type of fencing! I was very surprised as to the quality and the thickness of the metal in which they were made.
It has a pretty black shiny coating on it and it looks like the coating will stand the test of time and will not chip or rust after a while like my other borders I had purchased in the past. I weed wacked close and purposefully hit the fence and it did not chip any of the coating off. I was very surprised as to the uniqueness of the fencing also. I've looked all around other home-improvement stores and have found nothing quite like this in regards to the uniqueness and the quality. I used them to put a border down where I planted my Bougainvillea‘s. They were very easy to push into the ground because they have like a little sharp point which makes it easier to push into the ground. I am planning on purchasing more to complete my project!
Nice Design-Easy to Use Once You Get Them Together
I ordered four of these Expert Gardener Empire Powder Coated Steel Garden Border 22.5 In. W x 18 In. H to define my front walk area around my stairs to try to control some of the rustic foliage. As I unpacked them I noticed how nicely designed and detailed they were and the weight was easy to handle - not as heavy as I thought they would be. The outside area was already measured out so I knew they would fit but as I was putting them together - either I had my stupid hat on or because I never used these before they took a very long while to get the links in the holes and they kept on coming out as I was placing them in the ground. The placement of the hook and the hole didn't seem to line up so I kept exchanging them with each other to see if one fit better than another. I finally sat down in the dirt and placed one in the ground and then very carefully lined up the holes and I finally got it in but the outcome was slightly crooked. I know they must make thousands of these but not lining up properly they would need to be bent to sit straight so the problem might be in the production - I don't know. The end result is I have a nicely defined area where I wanted it although slightly crooked.
Sturdy and Well Made
Empire powder coated steal garden border panels are great looking and sturdy. Since I enjoy gardening, I have several veggie plants that I need to protect. This portable fence helps to keep my dogs and other animals out of my garden.
This is a great little fence, better quality than other brands I have tried in the past. Each panel can be detached from each other or connected with others panels as well. They can be a little tricky to put in, because they do need to line up with the linking points, but it is not too difficult. I started at one end and had the loops in the direction towards me. Then, I line up the linking posts with the loops, making it easier to assembly.
I really like that I am able to take down to trim or work on the veggie area , then put back up. Seems like the coated material will withstand bad weather, time will tell. It stays up right against rain and strong winds. They do look great and add some nice curb appeal to an area. Overall, this fence is sturdy and well made, it is a great value for the price.
Sturdy with in-ground spikes
My little garden in front of my house tends to want to wander and sometimes gets nicked when I use the string trimmer. I found the solution in this border fencing. It is just the right size for my flower garden and easy to install. It's 18" high and 22.5" in length. It has two 6.25 inch points on both ends of the fencing to anchor the fencing panel securely to the ground. Winds up here on the mountain tend to be strong and the length of the anchors is important to keep the fence upright.
There are two small, rounded hooks on the one side of the panels you can add an additional fence panel. The great thing about these hooks is that it enables you to angle the fence the way you need it. This allows me to follow the turns of the garden. The charcoal border is understated enough that it takes nothing away from the beauty of the garden. Instead, it actually enhances it by the design of the metalwork appearance. It is coated to protect it from rusting. There was a heavy rain and wind storm before I could put the border fence into the ground and thus all my flowers were flattened, so the photos are not as I would have liked. The border fence would have saved them.
Not as easy as it appears
I thought these garden border panels would be easier to install than they turned out to be. Each panel has one end with two downward-facing pegs while the other end has two holes. Ideally, the pegs would easily fit into the holes. This is not as simple as it sounds and required four hands, a rubber mallet, and significant trial-and-error. As you can see from an included picture, we eventually succeeded in installing the four panels around a flower bed, but it took longer than I felt it should.
Two stars were deducted from this product review for the following reasons: A) One of the slats was broken upon arrival and easily falls down from the point where it was soldered, as shown in my other picture. B) Installation should have been as simple as other similar products.
Overall, I'm not sure the border will last beyond the season, but for now it looks nice (if I can get the broken slat to stand up straight). I'm not sure I'd recommend this product to a friend unless they had an opportunity to get a really good deal.
Very fancy looking fence!
I relieved my Expert Gardener Empire Powder Coated Steel Garden Border 22.5 In. W x 18 In. H. I actually have 4 pieces of this garden border. It is made of powder coated steel and that coating makes the pieces more durable and long lasting. It is resistant to rust. The pieces are not heavy and very easy to handle. They connect together with feet that insert inside of rings. This makes them easy to install and store or move. The border pieces have spiked feet that are easy to push into the ground or sand. You can make a straight line or a square or rectangular type of border. These are great for placing borders around your house and garden and really look nice and more expensive than what they are. I used 4 pieces to pace a border around my lantana bushes in my back yard. Hopefully this will keep some of my cats out. The plants can grow through them and provides a short trellis for the plants to lean into. I plan to get a get a few more to place around my front porch to keep dogs at bay from my smaller plants. These really look nice and fancy. Love mine!
Great lawn trim
This is my review of the expert gardener empire power coated steel garden border, First thing I noticed when I remove them from the box is how well they were made I'm getting tired of the plastic ones that end up curving underground and you can't keep them in the sand or ground at all these had a nice sharp points to put right into the ground I put them out front in front of my door they went in very easy they lock with just a touch to each other they seem like how it's so they seem like they were last in the rain and the weather. Very excited about finding something that will actually work for me.Highly recommended.
Pretty, strong, durable
I love this garden border! A few years ago, I put up chicken wire around my deck to keep armadillos out. It's tacky, so I bought a different, inexpensive border (thinner, not durable) to go in front of the chicken wire and then planted border grass. It was so cheap, it lost it's shine almost immediately, it rusts and it bent when trying to push into rough ground. This Expert Gardener (aka Garden Craft) border is so much better and more attractive! It's strong and the bottom of the legs are flattened and in a point so you can push it hard to get into tougher soil. I accidentally stepped on one section and it did not bend. It has a beautiful shine to it. The actual size is accurate to the description. You can see in my picture where one side/end has hooks. The other side/end has holes. This is how you connect one piece to the other. This design gives the pieces a great hold. At the connection, you can swing/move the pieces side to side to allow for curves or angles in your garden. I really love this border. I will be looking for more.
Looks like real wrought iron
The classic wrought iron look garden border can be used anywhere outside; in gardens, to designate walkways, or flower beds, or any place else your imagination can think of! The powder-coated steel construction will surely last longer than painted garden borders and should remain rust free for a long time. Each piece is separate and is supposed to interconnect with the next piece you add on…..but….for me, I couldn't get the pieces to line up to connect them. Maybe I'm not coordinated, but I have to mention that for some buyers who are all thumbs like me. So I had to install them without interconnecting and hope they will stand up to the elements. Even without being connected, they still look great and protect my ferns from vehicles in the driveway.
This little iron fencing is just the right touch between two trees in my front yard. I do recommend that you inspect them before bringing them home, because one of the iron slats Was broken at the top. I just pushed it back in place and you really can't tell it. Hopefully it will stay in place, If not may need to weld it. I also recommend that when putting these in the ground, maybe do it after a rain or at least wet the soil. If you don't do this first, you might break one of the slats or the prong off the bottom. I also had to dig out a little trench so that they would all be even. I had to do that so that they would lock together and stay that way. I went a step further and put a little dirt around the bottom just for security. It's a very beautiful and classy design and adds to your garden. I have yellow bell bushes planted behind them, and need to add more flowers to the bed. I know they will show up really well with that fence in front of them. I do recommend these I just recommend that you look at them before bringing them home in case one is broken so that you won't have to make an extra trip back. I am reviewing these as a Walmart spark reviewer.
This was easy to figure out how to put together you just have to have patience to get the connector parts together. One of mine was slightly bent so to get it to fit together right we had to bend the fence a tiny bit. They look cute around my flowers.
I received this product for free from Walmart spark reviewer in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are 100% my own.
Simple & one standard size.
They feel very durable. Comes with very simple directions. For the most part they are self explanatory in my opinion. You just hook them together & stick in place where you want them in the dirt. The assembly with the hooks helps with getting it straight & into its shape. But I am currently using it in a Modified way. It's in a rectangular shape with the 4th side missing because I had to use two on one side in order to accommodate my garden set up. I'm thinking it's meant to accommodate a small space. I don't think it will be too hard to uninstall & reuse in another area. Because I'm not sure their current location will be their final resting place. I have other plans for this garden border in the future. I also am wondering if it only comes in more sizes than this. Or if it's just one standard size. I could've used some a little bit wider. I'm starting me a raised garden which was initially supposed to be in the ground. But in the ground or in a raised bed, I think they look great! Just check the size first to make sure it fits your project needs.
The pieces are easy to hook together and to push in the ground. I would not recommend for an area where children play. They are made of lightweight metal and have points across the top.
Cute garden boarder
The sections link together easily and is a nice boarder to planters or around veggies to keep animals out. These are constructed well and coated to avoid rust. This adds to the garden not only as a decorative item but as a great boarder.
Great to spruce up your garden
Very happy with these. Helps keep the animals away. Very easy to put together and put up. Makes our garden look very nice. Plan on getting more to make our garden nice.
