I am an electronics engineer and I ordered this product to be used with an OEM device I designed and manufactured. I had previously purchased inexpensive USB cables and found defective shield connections, which caused failures in my product. I purchased other high quality gold plated USB cables from an on-line supplier and they met USB specifications of 0.6 ohms or less. I was very disappointed when the Belkin cable measured 1.15 ohms and varied when flexed. I contacted Belkin directly but they were unresponsive. I dismantled one of my cheap defective cables and found a design defect that caused an unreliable shield connection, and I suspect the same flaw in this design, but Belkin would not discuss their design practices and I did not want to ruin this cable to determine why it does not have a solid shield connection. The attached photos show the problem with a cheap cable. Actually, these cables are better than many cheaper cables and will probably work fine for most applications. But I cannot trust them for my product, and I can get a superior cable for a lower cost.
