Clean Bean Flavor
It's not easy to find a coffee bean that's robust in flavor and no acidic aftertaste. I consider myself a bit of a bean snob and look for pure coffee bean flavor without the leftover residue on the tongue. Black or flavored with sugar and cream; this coffee is smooth from start to finish. The beans are not overly oily and grind perfectly. The beans are of a dark roast. The label lists a variety of tastes including bold, smoky, sweet stone fruits and chocolate. I agree it is a bold flavor and finishes on the sweet side, preventing the bitterness of some other blends. I had never heard of this brand, and after experiencing it, recommend it highly.
Good coffee for the first time
First I want to start off saying that I have never been a coffee drinker
before. So trying this coffee, and for the first time, was a pretty good
experience. I usually pick dark chocolate candy, and this was a
reminder of that. It got me through majority of the day without
feeling tired or sluggish. So this is a product that I will definitely suggest
to everyone that I know who drinks ☕.
I have never in my life made a cup of coffee from beans! After getting a grinder from my son we were set to try. It was a delightful experience to enjoy this coffee. We actually had fun testing the different amounts to get the right blend we liked. I think I need a little more to try!
Delicious full body flavor.
First I want to say, I am a very picky coffee drinker.I have tried so many brands in the past, but few giving me the full bodied, distinctive flavor that this Mash-Up whole bean coffee does. It's 100% Arabica coffee beans fused from the origins from Sumatra + Peru. I think it's pretty cool how two different countries so far away from each other, are connected by this awesome coffee.
I'm a working, single mom of three, and my weekday mornings are usually pretty hectic. My morning coffee is my 'starter fluid' to get me going. I grind the whole beans the night before so I can enjoy a fresh brewed pot in the morning.
The beans are easy to grind depending on how you like your coffee: light, medium or coarse
When the beans have been ground, the aroma intensifies and fills my home with a fabulous oaky, chocolaty aroma! My home smells like a coffee shop, and what coffee lover doesn't just love that!
I love the delicious taste of bold dark roast coffee and this one delivers that. No tart taste, very smooth, not like other bold coffees that 'puts hair on your chest'.The flavor savors in my mouth.
This Mash-Up coffee beans are now my favorite, go-to brand of coffee!
This product was a really good surprise, because I am not a huge fan of blends when it comes for coffee. But, I really enjoy this one. Very bold and delicious flavor, not so much strong but extremely good taste.
The smell is really awesome and I really enjoyed to have it with milk.
This is a good call for start your morning!
Flavor to wake up to!
Mash-up Sumatra is an organic blend of boldness and smoothness. Dark tones with a nutty warm undertone. The aroma when grinding the arabica coffee beans and then brewing the coffee fills the kitchen and I found myself craving a sip. The price is amazing for the quality. It is delicious and I recommend any coffee drinker who enjoys a dark roast to try this product.
Great, Robust Flavor!!!
I absolutely love dark coffee, but have never before tried this brand. Nor have I ever ground my own beans, so this was a new experience. The beans had a very intoxicating smell and, once ground the coffee grounds smelled just as good. I enjoy coffee that has a strong flavor, which is why I chose this dark roast. The final product was a strong coffee that tasted just as it smelled! I will be purchasing more of this product!!! If you prefer a less intense coffee, Mash-Up does offer light and medium roast coffee as well. Instructions were clearly marked on the package and the instructions were easy to follow, even for me, who has never ground coffee beans before.
Very nice!! I’m not much of a coffee drinker but with a splash of your favorite creamer it makes it just so much better! I recommend this product for everyone to try! I’m so use to my Folgers coffee and this one is so different and I’m not one to really step out of my comfort zone.
Good to drink even without adding sugar.
I made the mistake of adding milk and sugar to the coffee. This coffee tastes best with just boiling water. Since it has smoky over tones you do not even have to add sugar. It tastes very good with honey and brown sugar to.
I also made cold coffee with it and added a scoop of ice cream. It tasted heavenly as it had a chocolatey flavor.
This is the first time I am trying a coffee from Peru. It has a bold flavor. I like my coffee strong as this definitely gave me a jolt of adrenaline in the morning. I would definitely recommend this coffee.
Good but not quite excellent for me
Mash-Up coffee is an interesting marketing scheme to create an identified blend of two coffee beans from different sources. In my case, this Mash-Up is with Sumatra and Peru sourced bean. This is different than unidentified blends such as Christmas blend, or Major Dickerson blend where the beans are not identified. My Mash-Up is USDA organic and 100% Arabica beans. The bag suggests that the coffee will be “Bold and Smoky with Sweet Stone Fruits, Chocolate, and Floral tones”. Wow, that’s just like drinking fine wines in its description.
So, how did it taste? Even though it is a dark roast, it is nothing like a French roast. It may proclaim to be “Bold and Smoky” but it is nowhere as smoky or burnt tasting as French. So, it is not like Starbuck dark roast. But it is definitely bolder than a medium roast. It is very smooth and has no acidic or sour notes, which I sometimes taste in medium roasts, such as with Dunkin beans. Unlike straight Sumatran, it is not earthly. The blending with Peruvian beans seems to cover up that aspect. I did pick up on the chocolate and floral tones but not the sweet stone fruit tones. Since everybody’s tongue is different, your experience will likely be different.
I truly loved this coffee blend. It definitely tastes different than all other coffee brands I have tried so far. It has a very gourmet feel to it. I just noticed a slight off sort of smell while grinding the beans, but that did not appear while brewing the coffee. I would definitely buy it again.
Tasty inexpensive coffee beans.
My Mash-Up Sumatra + Peru Blend Whole Bean Coffee, Dark Roast, 11 Oz came packed in a simple padded envelope. It was in fact mashed but not damaged. The beans had a rich flavorful smell as soon as I opened the package. I grinded them and made a small pot of coffee. It was delicious! I was able to reuse the package to securely store the ground coffee and keep it fresh. I was surprised at the dark and full flavor from such an inexpensive brand. I’ve been buying a more expensive Sumatra and having it ground in the store, no more! I recommend this product to anyone who loves dark rich tasting coffee.
Mmmm...Gourmet, Rich Tasting!
My husband and I were not exactly sure that we were going to like this coffee when we received it from Walmart, but we were so wrong! This is a very rich, full-bodied dark roast MashUp of Sumatra and Peruvian Whole Bean Coffee. The bag contains 11 oz. The coffee itself has a smoky taste with chocolate notes to it. It is so delicious!. Now, I cannot say that we would want this coffee every morning and all day long, but this is that extra-special "treat" coffee for us that will keep us from hitting the coffee shops as much as we have in the past. Usually I like cream in my coffee, and my husband prefers sugar in his. Neither of us felt that we needed that with this coffee. I had a little fun experimenting with adding a little fancy creamer to mine. My husband enjoyed adding a little brown sugar to his. It just seemed to fit with the chocolate notes in the coffee. We might find that we just prefer it black, but for now, we will have fun exploring this coffee and the other blends that Mash-Up makes. I would easily recommend this Mash-Up coffee to any coffee lover who wants to explore other varieties of coffee without paying ultra-premium prices for just one cup of at the coffee shop!
Robust making a good morning
The coffee is very robust with great coffee flavor. The coffee beans were very fragrant and fresh. The scent was perfuming strongly when the package wasn’t even opened yet. Once the bag was open, the bag was opened the coffee beans were nice and glossy. I proceeded to grind the beans and made a cup of fresh joe. The coffee is very smooth with very strong robust coffee. Any coffee lover would really appreciate this coffee. The taste is unique and familiar with hints of notes that can’t be found in other coffees. I believe this is due to the coffee beans being cultivated in smaller batches. Really love this coffee and what the company believes in. They are sustainable harvested and a wonderful coffee to start my mornings just right!
A Nice Gourmet Coffee
First, let me say that I ground the whole beans in my Magic Bullet and Brewed the Coffee in a Single Cup Keurig. I was pleasantly surprised by the subtle taste of Chocolate and the Aroma was wonderful. Yes, it had a slightly smokey taste, but not overpowering. I tried it both Plain and with a dash of Creamer, and both ways it had a great taste. What I most liked was the fact that it was not Bitter and had no lingering after taste.
Dark roast coffee
The smell is bitter to me and taste didn't like it at all. I even tried it for a week and thought maybe I would start to like this and sorry to say I didn't
Delicious robust coffee
Peru dark roast blend, delicious nutty, robust flavor. Smells as good as it tastes. Nice clean crisp wake me up. I will definitely purchase this coffee.
I absolutely love this coffee!!! What I don't understand is when I order it from Walmart.com it is not vacuum packed. But when I order it from the company that makes it, it is vacuum packed and the taste is bolder. I was ordering other things so I ordered the coffee too. It is cheeper at Walmart.com but it's not vacuum packed for that fresh bolder taste. Hummmm...would be nice if they would fix that. But seriously, this is great coffee!!!
If you like bold, dark coffee this wonât impress
The coffee itself is of good quality, unfortunately it is anything but what I expect a dark roast coffee to be. It brews extremely light, after 48 hours of cold brew it is barely the color of iced tea; even grinding it and brewing it for use in a keurig it was only just as dark. The flavor profile is extremely smoke and tobacco forward, and thats rather unfortunate. I wanted to like it, i just canât.
Rich and flavorful
I use the Keurig single cup coffee maker that uses K-cups. I do get tired of the packaged K-cups and their associated expense and flavors. I have a solo reusable pod filter that allows me to use coffee that I grind and still use the Keurig machine. I love dark coffee but it sometimes is bitter, burnt tasting, or too acidic. That was not the case with this smooth and flavorful coffee. From the first smell of it grinding and then again as it was brewing, I knew it was going to be a treat. It was exactly as smooth tasting as I had hoped it would be. This adds an alternative to the prepackaged single use coffee pods.
