This is a real nice one. 20lbs of line strength is good for any amateur fisherman.
Your bait needs to be heavy if you want to pitch it at a distance beyond 40 feet or so. Also, (for right handers) make sure that your left had is at the extreme bottom of the rod when you are pitching it - that adds an extra support and lets your bait land at what ever distance you want it to.
It's from Zebco, Trust the name. It will never let you down. Remember your first rod and reel? Mine was a Zebco. Nuff said!!! Great Rod and Reel at a great price! Highly recommended!!!
This is the fourth Zebco Hawg 808 that I have purchased and I am very satisfied with them. I would recommend them to anyone.
real easy to use and strong enough to catch anything i want.
A Real Good Buy...Pulled A 25# Flathead In Just Great And Still Goin...Great Combo At A Cheap Price
This is a good quality rod and reel with 20lb line you can easly bring in the bass and even catfish!
this is a great trolling rod but is a little bit of a challenge trying to cast with it because you can't cast very far with it, maybe 35 feet
overall its a good rod and reel for the price
i would recommend this product because this reel can take a beating and keep on going ive let other people use it and its very easy to fix when they get line tangled up in the reel........its easy to use and its a easy reel to use .........its for any person that likes to go fishing .
Purchased last two at local wal-mart. Seems I received the best and the "not so best". One reel works like a champ. Can cast far with only 2 oz of weight. Happy with it.
Other reel will not cast over 50 feet. Not sure what is going on, but am going to try a 15 or 17 lb line to see if it changes.
Lastly, I am not truely happy with the drag on either reel. Even though the range from zero to full is adequate, the desired setting seems to have a very small window. At one point is it too light, and a small roll on the wheel makes it too heavy. ????
Anyway, a decent catfish rig for the money.
The reel metal broke trying to pull in a large catfish. I would have thought the 20 pound line would has broke first, but the metal "T" securing the reel to the rod broke. Love Zebko, but I got a dud.
Had it for less than 2 weeks and the line release button broke in the middle of casting. button is plastic. Great until broke. Feel poor craftsman ship the problem.
this reel is the worst reel i have ever bought with its nylon bearings and all i used it once and it just grings now
Rod is sturdy, however the reel doesn't cast well, and completely tangled up inside to the point of destroying the reel. Could not repair it. Lasted about 1 month.
Have used Zebco products for years. bought one of the hawg seekers and it didn"t last one fishing trip.I thought it had to be just a bad reel so I bought another one. well this one almost made it thru a one week vacation. Reel has very good strength and retrieval power but line hangs up in bait alert and the release button brought on both reels.
