Schwarzkopf Color Ultime Metallic Permanent Hair Color Cream, 6.86 Sparkly Light Brown
This has to be the best boxed dye I've ever used, hands down. I just dyed it last night, so I don't know quite how steadfast it is, yet. However, I will say that red is the largest colour molecule, which is why reds ALWAYS fade faster. My hair was incredibly dry from lightening it severely a year ago, in order to do a 4 POP colour. I can't say I agree with the reviews stating 'amazing smelling conditioner. I can say however, that it has made a world of difference on my hair. It's now soft and smooth compared to dry and brittle. I do expect it to turn into a nice ombre look as it fades, due to about half my hair still being BLONDE blonde from lightening. The rest was my natural dark/dishwater blonde hair, which has a little red, too. My hair came out exactly as the box's sample pictures. I would recommend investing in some sturdier gloves, though. The ones in the box tear easily. They also recommend using hair conditioner to line your hairline and such. I use baby Vaseline. I attended cosmetology school over a decade ago, and was taught to use Vaseline to prevent staining. It works quite well. (I also put a thin bit of baby Vaseline on my arms, so that when I took a wet rag to them the dye came off pretty easily.) I did leave the conditioner in for longer than the recommended timeframe, probably about 15min, and combed/brushed through my hair after applying it to make sure it was evenly distributed (Just as I did the dye. Comb through the dye carefully, though. As it sets, it gets a little tacky. I would recommend starting at the bottom of the strands, and working up towards the scalp to prevent accidentally pulling out hair by tugging/yanking on it.) I sill probably leave the conditioner in 15-20min everytime I use it. Don't worry if your hair feels a bit tacky/straw like after dying. The conditioner they include fixes that. A few tips for helping colour last. 1) Invest in a good quality dry shampoo if you can. It will prevent you from having to wet wash as often. 2) Avoid shampooing in the shower, and just condition if you feel your hair needs it. 3) Use water as cold as you can tolerate. The warmer the water, the more your colour will bleed. 4) Try to use a good quality colour protecting shampoo/conditioner if you can. I was able to dye my hair between late night bottle feedings of my 1 month old. I did lay down towels for easy clean up. I absolutely love the colour. Here are before and after colour photos.
I've been dying my hair for 20 years, and I dye it often. I've tried basically every hair dye on the market and this was one company I hadn't tried. I was looking to change my hair color again and missed having purple hair, ah the joys of adult life, so when I found this color I was excited. I figured the worst that would happen is I hate it and change it again in 3 weeks. I turned out to not only love the color - which despite all the odd reviews I've read does actually have purple in it with a really pretty red tint in the right light. I would like to add that ALL hair dyes have a red tint on my hair, I have a strong red in my hair naturally. The dye works extremely well, stayed in my hair for weeks longer than expected and I've only needed root touch-ups. As for the hair dye coming out during washing I want to give some advice to all the novice hair dying ladies out there ANY hair dye containing red of any kind will bleed in hot water. Cold water works best. Make sure the water runs clear during your initial rinse as well. A good shampoo also makes all the difference in the world. You can't blame the dye for your mistakes ^_^ mine only came out slightly with the first wash which I fully expected. The color did not fade. I will definitely purchase this product in the future and I'm already looking forward to trying a couple other colors from this company. The dye didn't damage my hair. The conditioner works well (leave it in for at least a minute) and my hair was shiny, soft and had beautiful color. Bravo to this company for their formula. I wouldn't normally do this, but because of all the negative reviews for a product that I actually feel doesn't deserve them, I'm going to upload a photo of the color 2 weeks after I dyed it. ^_^
I think I've found my home color solution!
I've been coloring my natural red hair as the grays started. My natural red color is a mix of strands of blonde, brown, and copper and it has been impossible to find a boxed color that is light enough, but not orange. The more golden or copper colors are darker than I wanted. I started with a darker color due to the above issue and this color lightened my hair a shade and it is probably the closest to my natural color in years. Another application or two will probably give me the shade similar to what I had as a child, which is pretty close to her color on the box. Please never discontinue this shade.
Pretty color in the sun
Ok so I have Darkish brown/black hair. Before applying I would recommend to get a plastic cover or trash bag and rip it up to place on the floor. So there wont be any stains! The applying process was quick and easy. •Now the result, the color doesnt really show up when in dark/“normal” rooms. •When you are in the sun you can definitely see the results and I would recommend to anyone who just wants some tint that has natural dark hair!
this color came out absolutely beautiful on me. I was trying prior to this color to dye my hair purple, but it looked muddy and wasn't taking well. I decided I needed something that gave me rich color that would look great on me and this delivered. I really love the color and am happy I decided to give this color a try. depending on the light I'm in it can look like it has red or purple tones. including a photo of my hair after using this product.
I usually dye my hair black but this time i wanted to try something different where it would be a subtle color. This gave me the subtle color since my natural hair at the roots grew out and is natural hair is on the soft black the color when i used this it turned it to a more reddish color indoors, but i havent seen what it would like outside if i will see the purple in the light. However, since my old black color hair is still in it, top of my head is lighter because my natural soft black was dyed with this color. Kinda weird. Besides the minor color contrast. I LOOOOVE how this makes my hair feels soooo soft. I was wondering if thier bliss conditioner will do the same like the conditioner that came with it in the coloring box? .. hmm
Mahogany red...... So I thought!
I bought this in store thinking I was getting a beautiful deep Auburn reddish look for fall... nope!. I had natural hair ( light brown with reddish / blonde tones) Now I look more like Wendy on the Wendy's sign lol. However, this brand did not mess with my sinuses, it left my hair very soft with my damage or breaking, the conditioner actually smells like a bad cologne for men eh that's alright though.
Extreme hair loss and damage
I had an audition and wasn't able to get in to see my stylist. Decided to "do it myself"as I had many times in the past with a different color. I decided to go with Schwarzkopf "ultimate flaming Red" for the first time as it was a new color. BIG mistake! After recommended strand test, I decided it was safe to use as the color looked great on tested area. However, after using this product as directed, I noticed a large amount of hair loss as I rinsed it out. The hair loss was continuous through the next week and severe damage to the ends to the point that I now have to get a large amount cut off just so I can make it look fuller and get rid of the damaged ends. I use professional hair products and am certain it's nothing other than Shwarzkopfs hair color. Fortunately, Walmart refunded the money for my purchase but now I have to dish out the big bucks to get it fixed. The picture below is after the FOURTH wash with hair still coming out in clumps Please let me know if anyone else has had this issue?
I have tried multiple red shades from multiple lines over the last 2 years and this is by far my absolute favorite. This color is so beautiful and I get tons of compliments on my hair because of it. The product is easy to use and leaves hair soft. I have shoulder length hair so 2 bottles are best if doing full coverage. I do wish the color held on a little longer on the last 3-4 inches of hair but I have not found a red shade yet that does. Unfortunately finding the product and this particular shade are difficult so I always order a few at a time. I highly recommend the Schwarzkoph brand and colors.
It is a great color. I put it on my hair which had red color before, and did not expect to see any purple color. But it turned out a nice purple redish color which I love. It also did not bleed and did not ruin my towel and pillow cases as much as other colors do. I used to use Loreal, I definitely switch to Schwartzkopf
Not red at all, barely covered grays
I have been using salon color for the past few years, but I was in a pinch so I picked this up at the store. My hair pulls red really easily... Like usually I have a hard time NOT having red in my hair. I decided to embrace it and chose cocoa red and loved the color on the box, but my hair looks like the same color it was before I started! (Medium dark brown) My grays are barely covered... You can still tell they are there. Also, the cream they give you to use after made my hair feel rough and dry. I will not be buying this again!
I have been coloring my own hair for many years. Schwarzkopf 4.6, Macadamia Brown, is the only color that I have used that reflects my actual (youthful) color accurately. And, the sheen stays fresh much longer than other color products that I have used. My local Wal-Mart does not keep this one in stock so I have to order online (ship-to-store). With the new Wal-Mart App, pickup is a snap! Just click that you are at the store and they will have it ready for you when you arrive at the counter!
Great hair color, the smell is not overpowering. The conditioner that comes with it smells so great! I would recommend 2 if you have long hair, it didn't cover the back of my hair all the way. The conditioner could be a little more moisturizing too. I would buy this haircolor again, the color came out great!
