This item is described as "wood." You can't tell if it is actually wood since it is covered in a "wood-grain" adhesive paper, something like contact paper. If it gets scratched, the paper will peel off. I believe the description is misleading since I was expecting real wood. The directions were pretty easy to follow, and assembly time was reasonable. It is well-designed and I like the 5th wheel that keeps the cabinet from falling over when the drawer is opened. Since I couldn't find many rolling 2-drawer cabinets, I would recommend this one for someone like me who needs the rollers.
The cabinet didnt go together very well. The locking screws did not hold . Had to use extra screws and drill holes so the cabinet would stay together. Also had to glue other parts. The draws do not move very smoothly. They stick and the cab. almost falls over. I would have returned it if I didnt drill the hole and insert the screws. You should try putting one together your self!!!
After reading many of the previous negative reviews for this filing cabinet, I decided to purchase one anyway. The assembly instructions are easy to follow & assembly was just as easy. The only thing that I did different from the instructions was that I used Elmers wood glue at the joints that hold the drawers & the cabinet itself together. The cabinet is solid & very functional. I use it in a room with carpet floor covering. Even on the carpet, the rolled under the bottom drawer still rolls smoothly. I think the biggest thing that helped, other than using the wood clue, was that i took my time during assembly & allowed all parts that were glued to dry & set up before I moved to the step.
I needed a file cabinet that would fit into a small space. This particular cabinet seemed to be perfect - right size, good price, and the convenience of not having to drive around to several stores. Turns out that I probably should have shopped around a little more. My son put it together following the instructions. It was wobbly, the doors were difficult to open and close, but it did fit the space. After I loaded the drawers with files, one of the sides fell off. It was easily repaired but I don't think I'll ever buy another piece of furniture/equipment (that has to be assembled) off the internet.
This product did not meet with my exspectations.
When made the draws do not fit properly. I haven't even had it a week and its already falling apart. I would not recommend anyone to buy this product.
after i ordered the cabinet i read how hard it was to put together and how cheaply made it was. i was pleasentley surprised, it was quite easy to put together and looks great.
I am fortynineyearsold and and mechanicly inclined.
I have purchased and put together many items like this. This is absolutely the wosrst product like this I ever bought.
Fasteners did not work propperly, fasteners were hidden beneath verneer, I had to add hardware to strengthen unit.
This is the worst piece of merchandise I have ever bought. It was a complete hassle to assemble, and once it was assembled, it wouldnt even stay in one piece. I couldnt even open the drawer without the whole front of drawer falling off. Take my advice, and do not waste your time on the product!
The directions were all wrong and after it is put together it wobbles back and forth. I wanted to be able to lock it but it is so messed up that you can't
The product was not as sturdy as it looked in the picture, but it is functional.
The drawers don't open and close properly. It has 10 pound weight limit. You were supposed to put screws in the predrilled holes where there weren't any.
Instructions only tell what part with hard ware but no further instructions of how to put them in. Pictures are to little to so ware parts go. I found out
the hard way about pushing in the bottom & back, that youhave tomake the track open before you insert the fiber boads. Frist one I did not realize until I got to the bac and then it was to lte and did not get a snug fit. I am still having trouble get the top draw in, for instuctions are poor. Finally what is the point of part 18b.
Upon receiving this product is was very well packaged and the instructions with contents we on top for easy identification. After close examination of product I found two pieces of the cabnet had mar on the ends, and the assembly of this product took me two hours. I carefully read instructions as the pieces went together and on step 11 and 13 I had some confusion. over all the cabnet meets my expections and the mar parts are hidden form site. so my rating is a little low for this product only because of mar and time to have cabnet assembled. thank-you for your time.
This file cabinet appeared to be quite similar to a Sauder product I bought 7 or 8 years ago. The similarity was entirely in the appearance. It was extremely difficult to put together, the little ball bearings in the roller mechanism fell out, rendering the lower drawer only partially useful, and the connecting device for the side of the lower drawer didn't hold, pulling out of the wood entirely. I ended up needing to nail the drawer together in order to make it usable at all. I can't call the $79 totally wasted, but the 3 hours I spent trying to put it together haven't been repayed through product utility yet. By the way, the instructions are poorly diagrammed and confusing. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
It was hard to put together and fell apart 3 months later. Screws didn't fit properly and didn't hold together those that did fit.
According to my husband this file cabinet was extremely easy to put together. Whom ever engineered it did a beautiful job with drilling the holes. It looks great next the his computer table and the drawers are extremely roomy. The big plus is it is lockable. Our area is limited since our living quarters are at the end of our barn, and it fits right in.
I chose this filing cabinet because it was the cheapest I could find that matched my furniture and had a lock component. This product was more difficult and involved to assemble than most Ikea furniture I have put together. While the cabinet matches, and looks nice from the outside, it is not very sturdy on carpet, the drawers open on their own, and the lock can be broken very easily by pulling on the drawer, which makes having a lock kind of useless. I later found sturdier (but not as nice looking) and cheaper filing cabinets at Target and was really disappointed in my purchase.
this product is not stable, the screws do not hook in well and it is just over all wobbly. don't be a fool and dont let looks fool you.
I DID read some of the reviews - which seemed equally mixed - so I held out hope. The individual pieces seem sturdy and of quality. BUT the directions are only okay. For example, sometimes it's not very clear which way something is supposed to attach and so you have to read ahead to get your answer. Even after pushing through this (it took me about 2 hours to assemble), only a little pressure and it crumbled like a house of cards. Not very sturdy at all. I'm taking it apart tomorrow after work and returning it the next day for a metal (already assembled) one. Too bad. This matches my decor much better, but I have to have something that locks and that won't fall apart with the slightest breath.
The directions were translated from Chinese to English and very difficult to follow while installing. There were thousands of screws and pieces! It is not made of wood and some of it had to be glued together to keep it from falling apart. We even had to put our own screws in the sides and top to hold the top to the sides. Also, the description said it was 18" wide which is the length of the printer I planned to put on top of the cabinet. It is not 18" and I had to turn the printer sideways to fit on the top. The only good thing about the file cabinet is that it has rollers.
