My son loves these blocks!
I recently purchased these blocks for my 7 1/2 month old son (since he can now sit up and play on the floor), and he just has the best time with them! He's still a little too young to understand the concept of how the different shapes fit into their respective holes on the lid, but he loves to dump the blocks out and scatter them all around...and chew on them, of course! Also, I noticed in some other reviews that people commented on how the lid doesn't snap on, but this seems to be intentional so that it can be easily removed by the baby themselves after they've filled the bucket. Great product!
Great gift for grandson!
I purchased these blocks for my 7 month old grandson. I'm so glad I did! He loved them & played with them more than any other gift he received. I had read the reviews where some people didn't like the fact that the lid didn't snap on tightly & was easily removed. That didn't seem to be a problem as he enjoyed removing the lid as part of his play. He hasn't figured out the idea of inserting the pieces into the correct holes yet, but he certainly enjoys dumping them, holding them & banging them together. The colors are bright & fun, the entire toy is solid yet light enough for him to handle. And it's Fisher-Price, a great product at an awesome price. A must have for beginning toys as far as this grandma is concerned!
Great toy, the baby likes it!
I bought this for my 7 month old. He enjoys playing with the pieces, even if he's not quite gotten the hang of placing the appropriate shapes into the corresponding openings. This toy serves multiple purposes, from developing coordination and spatial recognition to learning colors and shapes. When I play with my baby and this toy, I show him the shape and explain the shape and color to him so he can begin to understand. The toy is a nice size, not too big, but holds all the pieces nicely. Some reviewers have complained that the lid does not snap on the lower container, but that's so the baby can remove the lid to empty the container and play again. If the baby wants to play with just the yellow lid and not place the shapes into the holes, who cares? The baby is learning to play their way and they're having fun.
Great set of blocks
My 22 month-old son LOVES this shape sorter. Other sorters have the holes for the shapes on all sides of the box or whatever you put the blocks in, making it difficult for little ones to figure out where to put the shapes. However this one is perfect for kids just starting to learn their shapes because you can see all the holes that they put the blocks in on the top, making it easier to sort correctly. The only con about this is that the lid comes off too easily. My son likes to stick his hand in the holes after he's put the blocks through to try to get them, and as soon as he puts his hand in, the lid comes off. It's very convenient that it has two of each shape. My son likes to lose his shapes, so more than one of each shape is convenient. The carry handle is nice, too, especially for a little tyke like mine who enjoys carrying things around. I would definitely recommend this as a basic shape sorter for little ones.
basic shape sorter
my 12month old loves this. it's one of her most basic toys but she likes it just as much as anything else. she doesn't get it right most times but she sure does get excited when she does. the lid is really easy to take off. it basically just sits on there, so that is kinda nice because my lo can take it off easily herself to get the shapes out of the inside. i like that it doesn't have any sharp corners on it since she still falls alot etc. the shapes will not hurt if thrown at anyone because they are fairly light weight. love that it's all plastic so it's easy to clean. the only thing is the shapes are hollow on each end and i wish they were solid. but basically this is the safest and easiest to use shape sorter i've seen on the market. it's also the cheapest i've found. i would buy it all over again.
Great learning tool for children
This toy was a great choice for the toddler. The one year old enjoyed it. The two and three year olds also enjoyed playing with it so I know that it will be used for several years to come. It is made of good quality and I believe it will last long enough and keep the children's attention. This is not the first one I have bought.
He loves it!!
My 9 month old son is learning to walk and ready to explore. The blocks keep him busy for some time (usually about 20 min or so) and he loves dumping them out and putting them back in. He's not very patient with learning how to put them through the correct shapes but it's definitely something I love to help him learn.
Condition Upon Receipt
Upon receipt of this toy the box it was shipped in was in poor condition. It was apparent that someone had TRIED to re-tape, but none the less was still open when delivered. The toys box was in poor condition as well. Returned to local store for exchange. Other items in shipping box un-touched. This is the second time this situation has happend to me within the last 2 months. Not sure if this is happening at Walmart's distribution or if in fact it is the fault of the carrier they are using.
Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby's First Blocks
This is a basic sorter for a beginning learner. No frills. It provides five basic shapes that can be stacked like blocks. The shapes are not primary colors. They are light pastels. The carrying case is primary colors; red, yellow, blue. It is cute and promotes learning. This first toy can grow with your children. Share it, and use it to carry collected "valuables". The well constructed carrying handle and case will help young hands hold-on to their treasured collections in the future.
It does what it says
My son, who is 11 months old, decided that he wasn't interested in matching the shapes yet. He takes the lid off and throws all the pieces into the bucket as he thinks the goal of the game is to load and unload. I just let him have fun. eventually we will start the matching and stuff.
My son loves it!!!
My son loves playing with the block sorter. Unfortunately he hasn't figured out that he has to match the shapes to get the blocks in there. So he just takes the lid off since it doesn't clip shut or anything. I don't know if he'll figure it out since it's easier to just take the lid off. But he loves playing with it. So I'm happy. And hopefully he'll figure out how to do it the right way without cheating one day. Lol :)
My husband talked me into buying this for our 11 month old son. I thought it would just be a cheap toy that would end up lost. I have to say I was wrong. We have already spent hours playing with it and we just opened it yesterday. We are teaching him shapes and hand eye coordination while having a good time.
