I love cooking with cast iron, and I own a lot of Lodge products; everything from cast iron, to porcelain, to steel, and it would be safe to say that there is not a single one that do not like. This Dutch oven is no exception, the day after I got it I cooked a six plus pound pot roast, and needless to say it came out perfect.
I would have given this a full five star rating, however, with my last couple Lodge purchases I have noticed that the factory seasoning has not been up to par. In this case, the telltale signs of oxidation appeared immediately after I cleaned it. This is not a big deal for me since I religiously apply an ultra-thin coat of cooking oil to my cast iron immediately after cleaning. Unfortunately, it does indicate a fault in Lodge’s factory seasoning process, which seems to be a more recent problem since none of the Lodge Logic products that I purchased right after they introduced the process exhibit any rust whatsoever. Hopefully they are aware of this issue, and will correct it straightaway. Until then, don’t fear buying, if you take care of it as instructed, it will provide many generations of great cooking.
Hope this helps you.
