This can opener is the absolute best I have ever used! It sits on my cabinet right along with the other essentials (my coffee pot). The can opener is so easily operated and leaves a nice smooth edge on the side of the can, not on the top. This provides greater safety for the operator. Love this can opener and would highly recommend it. Excellent product!!!
easy to use and a good side cut that I can reseal.
I cook all the time and for years I used a nice manual can opener that did the lid separation method. This is the next best thing., Safely cuts the can on the edge but just enough that I can close the can up and save some of whats in it Easy to use and opens the can just fine.
Why was I trying to be a "Hero?"
I thought that electric can openers were for lazy people (sorry, I really did!) I mean, why not just use a manual can opener right? Oh my gosh, what a difference! First, I have MS and manual openers are a royal pain in my hands!!! It is so hard sometimes! On top of that you have to worry that the can top doesn't cut open your plastic trash bag...smh...so then you waste paper towels covering the can top...smh...I had a manual smooth top opener but that stopped working properly even after I troubleshooted (cleaned it thoroughly, etc.) This is so FABULOUS!!! Why did I wait? I literally avoided eating tuna because it was so hard to open the can!!!! I know, seriously, why didn't I purchase this sooner? I LOVE this can opener, totally worth the $$$ and so convenient! It even looks stylish on my kitchen counter and does not take up too much space(a concern of mine.) Do not wait, just get it...life is too short! :)
Great can opener !!
Very happy with this can opener. It is very nice looking and it works great !! No sharp edges lids to dispose of, as it removes the top of the can below the lid. It is fast and you don't have to worry about the can falling when it is finished removing the lid. A great product to buy , good for the money.
that's is the way to go
I think this is the best can opener I have ever ever had it opens so easy and that's all people can't pull those have done the cans normally it takes all that out they're great
Best way to open a can
This can opener is very quick and easy to use. The result is a can and lid that are completely smooth and clean. Wonderful design, operation, and value. Simplify your life and get one.
- Ease of use
- Value for money
Awesome can opener!
I've had mine for about a year and love this can opener so I purchased one for my daughter. She hasn't tried it yet but I'm sure she will like it too!
The best can opener
If it were up to me I would use a hand operated opener, but my wife opens a lot of cans and the cheap Rival opener made too much noise in her opinion.. I researched comments on Amazon, Walmart, even seen "You tubes" of this opener in action and the buy for me came when a Chef magazine did a review at a soup kitchen where all kinds of openers were used and lots of different cans were opened.. The chef's liked a $20 hand operated one best, the 2nd runner up was Hamilton Beach Smooth Touch, especially recommended for people who physically have a hard time opening cans manually..I had reservations about Hamilton Beach ever since they sold leaky coffee urns a few years back which prompted the research.. This opener is quieter and cuts the cans on the side, not the top so nothing ever touches the food adding a degree of cleanliness to the operation. I've checked online and Walmart has the best price or at worst ties another.. We've owned and used this item for 2 weeks..So far so good and this opener changed my negative opinion of Hamilton Beach.. It's a buy..
Much easier than manual
It was nearly impossible for me to use a manual can opener due to having cramps in my hands. I am pleased that this opener cuts easily without much effort on my past. However, the lids are cut so precisely that I'm having some trouble getting the lids off the cans!
- Value for money
Not Great For The Money
It is extremely hard to get a can started correctly on this opener, as you can not see very well where the cutting mechanism meets the can, and then the can will go around and around and never stop until you pull the top activation lever up, and then you discover that it did not even open the can! Plus, the cutting assembly is not removable for cleaning!
- Ease of use
Hope this lasts a LONG time!
Our 20+ year old Betty Crocker can opener quit working and as you know, there are too many options out there and prices for mainstay items like toasters and can openers so making a decision isn't always quick and easy. Here's the review: LOVE the smooth edge on the lid when removed. One star was not given due to the need to hold the lever during the cutting process (unless there's an auto function I don't know about - I have not read the instructions/directions for use.) I've used it more than a dozen times and really like the way it looks and operates. The smooth lid cutting does enable the lid to be seated back on the can for storage in the fridge (dog food/etc.) and I did not find it to hamper the draining of liquids - love that a jagged edge lid no longer falls into the can's contents as it did with my old opener. I would highly recommend this product. It looks great on the counter and performs exceedingly well. Good price and value. Hope I don't have to shop again for a can opener soon. Even if I did I'm sure I'd likely buy this one again, simply for enjoying how it works.
Outstanding can opener. I have owned one for six years now and have found it to be the best opener I have purchased. It opens the cans by cutting through the ring on the rim. No sharp edges to worry about and never an issue getting the can started like some of the lesser quality can openers that cut through the top lid. I have enjoyed its reliability so much that I decided without question to give one as a gift to a family member. It is well worth the investment.
A great can opener.
This is one of many can openers I have owned over the years, and by far it is the best. I find it easy to use and quick to work. It looks great on the countertop too. I used to put my can opener in the cabinet, but I keep this one out on the countertop. I purchased 3 of these-- one for me (my old one finally broke), one for my daughter (she has been using a hand crank opener since her electric opener broke), and one for my daughter-in-law as she needs an opener that is easy to use because of her rheumatoid arthritis. Although young, she has had rheumatoid arthritis for many years and has problems with her hands and her finger joints. She finds this easy to use and loves it. It even opens pop top cans (like cat food cans) so no pulling the tab tops that can be difficult for her to do. I have had it for several months now and love how quiet it is and how easy it is to use. It was definitely a good choice.
No better opener in the world
I thought this opener was overpriced until I got one. I'd pay double for this after using it daily for a month. Does everything the ad says it does, lifts the whole top off a can without sharp edges. How it does, a mystery to me. But so easy to use with my cramped arthritic hands for one thing. Plus a dishwashing savior in that I can put the top back on (including a loop if it has one) to the fridge, saving a separate leftover container to wash. I cook for one (me) and if I open a can of spinach, or chili, whatever, I can use only half a can. Save the rest a few days in it's paper labeled can easy to identify in the fridge. I forget what is other plastic containers and waste contents to trash. And no further container to wash and dry. Perfect! I had my doubts but if you do, I guarantee you they will disappear once you use this marvel invention. I'm still trying to figure out how it can do what it does, but mainly it is so EASY to use its light touch even if you have old hands. I am 79 and have tried them all. If anyone has a problem with this item, then you didn't read the tips and instructions. Thank you Hamilton Beach and Walmart for the best price of anywhere.
Pretty neat can opener
This is an entirely different type of can opener. It doesn't cut the lid from inside the top lip like most old school openers, but cuts around the edge of the top on the outside so there are no sharp edges. You just pull the top off after cutting. I'd give it 5 stars except for the fact that with some cans the sealing pressure, which any canned product will have, takes a little effort to pull it off on some cans. Not any more effort though than any standard opener sometimes takes to cut inside the top lip, those times it doesn't cut all the way through, all the way around the first time. No electric opener is perfect because cans are different. I could see where if you had a dent in the top it might be a problem, but overall I like this and would recommend. Might take a bit getting used to, but actually is kind of cool.
Hamilton Beach Can Opener
I absolutely love this fantastic can opener. This is my second one, only because I used it daily and wore the original one out but I had it 4 or 5 years. I loved it so much I bought one for my 100 year old Mother-in-law. It is so easy to use, especially if you have arthritis in your had as elderly people do. It removes the lid, leaving no sharp edges on the lid or the can top making it a very save product, not only for the user but if you have children you help in the kitchen. I highly recommend this can opener.
great quality, and value. safety was a main issue
we bought one of these from walmart almost a year ago, and i wanted this one cause my son takes out the trash. so safety was important to me. when i was younger my brother that was only 12 at the time was taking out the trash, and a top to a can cut his leg open to the bone thru the bag cause he was holding multiple bags at the time. and i didnt want this to happen to my son, he just started getting allowance and doin chores. and i wanted him to be safe so thank you i love this can opener. plus it stays so clean, that was one thing i cant stand about other can openers. they always get nasty and to my standards u can never get them clean enough. this was bought for my 63 year old mother, that has been using something that looks like it came out of the stone age. its a handheld thing and its no bigger than a large egg, i cant stand using it when i go to her house. and i noticed it hurt her last time she used it. so thanks i love this product...
I just love this!!!
I had to bid farewell to my old can opener that lasted 15 years. So in reading through the choices and the reviews (especially the one that said this model helps with the arthritis!), I went ahead and ordered this one. At first I was so used to seeing a can opening at the top while the opener is spinning that when I did not see anything happening when I was using this opener, I was ready to box it all up and return it because it might be defective. Then when I removed the can, the whole top came off! And there were no sharp edges at all! It was great! Hope this one lasts me another 15 years or longer! Thank you Hamilton Beach and thank you Walmart!
I was not disappointed.
The can opener is great. Works smoothly. At first could not get it to work I read the directions carefully and did not see anything about removing a piece of plastic . The plastic part was down lower and not near the cutter edge. I saw a tiny corner of the plastic sticking out and pulled on it . After that was removed opener worked fine. The opener is very handsome in appearence.. I would give it a 5 star rating except for the problem with the plastic part.
good can opener
it is a good can opener not a great can opener. you can not put the can in and walk away. you have to hold the handle down the whole time. if you are opening a can you want to drain you have to lift the lid and off set the lid to drain, unlike the other can openers where you can push the lid down and drain. it is easy to use as far as getting the can on and using, you just have to stand there while using..
