Install them this way. Don't struggle.
Turn the blade a full 90 degrees relative to the arm and keep it that way. Slide the adapter into the U. Press in, it doesn't take a lot of pressure. It will click in. For some reason the plastic piece won't slide all the way in unless the blade is at the full 90° angle. When it's all the way in you'll feel the click and see the retainer pins as described in the instructions. Hope this works for you.
My car has the hook type wiper arms. I installed the first blade easily because I got lucky and positioned it correctly. My luck ran out on the second one and I had to go over and look at the first one to see what I was doing wrong. The plastic piece has grooves in the sides for the arm to fit and one side is longer than the other. For my car the arm has to be against the short side, So I rotated the blade 180 and it clipped right on.
defective plastic piece
I always buy the cheapest wiper blades I can find. I've found that the expensive ones don't last much longer then the cheap ones. Bought a set of these for both of our vehicles. On all 4 blades I had to remove the plastic piece that fits into the hook on the wiper arm from the old blades and put on the new blades. No way I could find to get the plastic piece that came with these blades to snap into place on the hook. Didn't take much to change them but somebody at Auto Drive needs to go back to the drawing board and correct this problem!!!
Bought two, both snapped at the plastic peice when trying to put them on. Returned both and went with another brand.
Heart aches by the numbers
I bought two blades put one on seemed to be ok. Tried to put the other one on and the rocker that holds it onto the pin would not snap in place without coming loose on the other pin. Took it back and exchanged it. Tried to put the replacement on only to have it break. Took it back and exchanged it for a Micheiin. Put it on started to leave. turned the wipers on only to have the Auto Drive Wiper hook come up. I parked and to it off and went back into store and exchanged it for another michelin. SAME SOME TIME AND DON'T EVER BUY A AUTO DRIVE WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY. You will say time and some heart aches.
These blades were difficult to install. It took a lot of muscle to get them to snap in place. Two months later, they are worn out and need replacing. Don't waste your money on these blades.
