I tried to buy the original Poison Ivy from another site and they messed it up --twice. They kept sending a me a sequel with actors I've never heard of and didn't want. I got to wish the lady at the post office a happy retirement--one good thing. I called the site and said to the sales rep."Don't you know who Drew Barrymore is? Elite acting family, been doing movies since she was a toddler?"
He says "HUH?" I cancelled the ordered and checked the Walmart site.
I didn't get the single Poison Ivy (movie) I wanted but more than close enough. This movie was kind of 'small' when it came out--I don't remember much build up--like it was competing with Blockbuster of the Summer Part 2 or something. Mostly I remember people talking about it like it was the modern version of the 'theme'---Lolita. Not the remake of Lolita.
Ivy can sense weakness in a wealthy seemingly stable family. She meets Sara Gilbert at school and her new friend confirms everything she hopes. How simple it would be to 'move in' on a vunerable family with a dying mother, a confused teenager and a very lonely husband.Drew Barrymore is just gorgeous--who could do thick black roots on home dye bleach and lips like wasp stings.? Not to mention the 'hand me down' wardrobe that gets altered by Cheryl Ladd's same size designer clothes. This is a well made movie with good actors and a neat script. Its interesting and you never know if Ivy intentions were once pure not poison?
The other movies are alright-they were made with quality and nice scenery if you know what I mean. They don't look like they were staged in someone's basement. All in all a great value for a few hours of entertainment and the movie I got---Thanks Walmart.
There is some very, very minor editing in Poison Ivy but nothing that effects the plot and no not what you're thinking. Thank you!
