Acer Spin 1, 11.6" HD Touch, Intel Pentium Silver N5000, 4GB LPDDR4, 64GB eMMC, Office 365 Personal, Windows 10 in S mode, SP111-33-P1XD (Google Classroom Compatible)
I love the one-day Shipping. I needed a simple mini laptop for college and this is perfect. Just be very careful because I bought the same one from STAPLES and within 6 months the screws got loose and the damage was so bad, but I still repurchased the laptop. I recommend not using it as a tablet and tighten the screws every once in a while because you never know. It's a super fragile laptop. I inserted a photo of what happened to my first one. But if you be very careful, that shouldn't happen. ( P.s if you have big manly hands, I don't recommend this, as it is a rather small, portable laptop)
I'm very impressed. I'm honestly shocked at my satisfaction. I wanted an inexpensive laptop that was 2 in 1. Touch and tablet mode. The screen resolution is OK. Great enough to be under $300 so I'm fine with it. Speed is good. Battery life is decent could be a little better but again, for the price I'm not mad. Sound is pretty ok as well. Highly recommend.
Use as regular laptop or as touchscreen tablet!!
The whole family loves using this Acer Spin. It is suppose to be only for my use but they keep stealing it on me! First off set up was easy. The computer walks you through the process step by step. Some of those steps you're allowed to “skip” and come back to at another time, if you're in a hurry. Having another Microsoft accounts helps too. Right out the box I did have to charge it before first use. A full battery will allow about 8 hours of use. It comes with Microsoft 10 already installed. When updates are available it takes only minutes to do so. You can use this Acer as a normal lap top or as they call it “Notebook mode” and it runs in desktop mode with keyboard and/or mouse. The second way you can use the Acer Spin is in Pad mode. You flip the screen completely backwards 360 degrees so just the screen is showing like you were using a tablet. If you enter “tablet mode” apps expand to full screen which is optimized for touch screen use. The Acer Spin is super thin and very lightweight. I would absolutely recommend to a high school or college student.
Following review is on the Acer Spin 1 SP111-33-P1XD, 11.6 HD Touch.
This is an awesome little laptop! It is smaller than what I am accustomed to in a laptop, however, having the ability to easily switch from laptop to tablet with just a flip of the screen surpasses that expectation and then converts it to a large tablet ! Which, I happen to prefer...
• Design - I love the textured surface, slim cut and very light weight; making this my go to carry long to work. Once break time or lunch rolls around, I can easily bust out my laptop/tablet and enjoy a movie or music. Fabulous!
• Laptop or Tablet – I would estimate at least 95% of the time I have this little laptop converted to tablet mode with touch and that alone makes this product well worth the value. Like having a generous sized tablet, Love It!
• Picture & Sound -Audio quality is exceptional. Its perfect when watching movies or listening to music; exceptionally clean, crisp and sharp. Picture quality is also adequate, not the most crisp and vivid but definitely sufficient. I ran a diagnostic and found this laptop offers a refresh rate of 60hz. This is great for surfing the web, creating documents, and watching movies. Jut to test I put on a movie for my little ones and not once did we experience lagging, breaking, or freezing.
• Navigating - Whether I'm using the keyboard with touch pad or the touch screen its on point and works great.
• Applications - For those that want extra security this laptop comes with Microsoft S Mode which locks out all other applications not trusted by Microsoft; however, you can switch out. This lowers the security level allowing you to download your trusted apps. SIDE NOTE: From what I understand once you switch out you cannot turn it back on. There are some great application I use on a daily basis:
o Microsoft Office 365 (1 yr free)
o MS Word
o MS Power Point
o MS Excel
o MS Publisher
o MS Access
Overall, I love this little laptop its perfect for so many things: typing up documents, homework, paying bills, editing pictures, and best of all keeping the kiddos entertained while I'm working.
Fast processing, minimum errors
The acer spin tablet-laptop it's great! It's design is very modern and super convenient. You can choose the tablet mode that brings a digital keyboard in the screen or switch to laptop to use the keyboard. The screen image quality is good but not very high definition. Overall, the use of Microsoft office is very good and reliable. The processor is fast and I haven't had any error after 2 months of use. I use it for work and personal use and I loved it !
Great for Teachers!
This was such a blessing and came at the perfect time! The laptop that teachers are assigned are ANCIENT! Half of the time, they won't connect to WiFi, can't hold a charge, or are as slow as molasses. I had so many issues with the laptop assigned to my room last year. This is the best surprise I could have received all year! Compared to my prehistoric laptop at school, this one is golden. Besides the fact that it's new, it is touchscreen and so light weight! I'll be able to use it anywhere in my room with convenience. No more landline or plug-in cords! One of the best features is that it comes with Microsoft Office! I can create my PowerPoints, lesson plans, and activities all in one place. I'll be able to print from home and from school. It saves me from having to save everything to a flashdrive or emailing it to myself to print later and such. The set up was simple. I was able to connect all my Microsoft accounts and devices. I'm not super techy. But, it takes you step by step through the process. Love it and cannot wait to use it in my classroom!
This is a great computer. We mostly use it to homeschool and to do research. I have always been pleased with Acer computers. They provide affordable computers and laptops that are easy to use and help me stay productive. I have used them for several years and have no complaints. This computer is not different. I love the sleek outer appearance. It's so slim and can be easily carried in a medium sized purse. The battery life is awesome. I don't use it for more than an hour or two at a time, and even then, it lasts for days before I have to recharge. Then recharging only takes a short time before your back in action. I love that there is an HDMI port. It helps when presenting lessons to multiple children at once. We easily hook up the HDMI cord from the tv, complete our lesson, and return the chord to the tv when done. It's so easy. I haven't used Windows in awhile. I was surprised to see the Windows 10 addition has lots of the programs I'm used to (like Word and Explorer) and some new features (like apps). I love the ability to turn this laptop into a tablet. It gives you so many more options for use. The only thing I don't like is when in spin (tablet) mode your constantly pressing the keys underneath. They don't work in tablet mode, but I just always feel like I'm going to break them or something. Otherwise, this is a great little addition to our homeschool and family.
Compact and Functional Laptop
As a small laptop, the Acer Spin is functional, practical, and something that in many ways is also used as a tablet. While I wish it had a little bit more processing speed and power to go faster, for day to day basics like sending emails, doing basic PowerPoint / Word documents, watching videos, it's fantastic.
Setup is a breeze. Simply open the box, plug it in (it already had a nearly full charge when the laptop arrived) and synchronize it up to your Windows account. The laptop walks you through the various options and also comes with a Office 365 trial. Windows 10 is also a nice operating system (all things considered). In terms of the laptop itself, you can invert the screen all the way back (360 degrees) and the laptop automatically switches into tablet mode where you can essentially treat everything as you would a normal tablet. When rotated back to the tablet mode, you can use the touch pad, or still use the touch screen to get where you need to go on your laptop.
I do appreciate the battery power (we're able to get a good 8-10 hours on a single charge), the laptop doesn't get too hot when in use, and the charge is fairly compact and convenient. All said and done, for something middle of the road, practical and functional, this is a good option. If you want a high-powered gaming device, or something that can process tons of data all at once, you may want a more powerful machine.
Overall I'd buy this product again. Very happy wi
It's been about a month and so far I love it. Havent fully dived into it. Light internet use. Streaming some shows here and there. LOVE the tablet mode. And tablet standup mode. Such a great feature. LOVE that its touch screen, personally never had one and makes things way faster for certain uses. Normally I like widescreen laptops that I can sit down and work with but this adjusted to me quickly and it's perfect for on-the-go people. Cons: -the speaker placement works best in tablet mode. It's also not the loudest to bump music because of its size. -the brightnesss for the screen only goes down so much. My old laptop use to go pitch black and I could adjust it to any darkness. I watch movies on my laptop at night and like to turn the brightness down. It does have a warming filter that you can change the hues on at night "night mode" but it's not the best imo. (like I said I haven't fully dived into it) Perhaps I'll do another review or edit this in the future.
I received my item yesterday. So far I have been kicked out several times (blue page with error msg), talked to tech support for an hour. Told to reset and start over. This morning it's freezing up so my daughter can't use it for school. This is very frustrating!!
Easy travel. Flip key board. Voice control
It's compact and has a tablet mode.
I like to think of this as a tablet with a full size keyboard, a keyboard that you won't lose.
It even has a headphone hole.
This will easily fit in a standard size purse
I really enjoy the convenience of this device. The touch screen really makes life so much easier.
Charge for about an hour or more to get it fully charged before trying to set it up.
Remove the S mode so that you can install Googlehrome. If however you prefer bing, then this tablet is ready to go right out of the box.
Comes with a full year of MS Office.
Fast and Responsive 2-in-1
I am really pleased with my Acer Spin 1 2-in-1 laptop/tablet. It is fast and responsive and it gives me the option of swapping between tablet mode and laptop mode by simply flipping the display around to the back.
The Acer Spin 1 came packed in a well-protected box and was inside a dust cover. It came with a charger and some literature. It had charge on the battery when it arrived, so I was able to plug it in and set up Windows while it completed its charge.
Setting it up was very easy and just a matter of entering my existing Windows 10 username and password. It used my Windows account to set the device up and took roughly 15 minutes. Once I was signed in and it was set up, it gave me the option of syncing my phone and other devices which use an Android operating system. This worked very nicely and is a great feature.
The Acer Spin 1 has a very sensitive touch screen with true HD resolution. Movie streaming services come in beautifully on the screen and without stuttering or excessive buffering. I have also used the internet and e-reader apps, all of which work flawlessly.
Another great feature is that this device comes with a copy of Office 365 Personal already loaded. This is a huge value and turns it into a sort of work horse! In laptop mode you can use Office 365 for school or work, and is something that many 2-in-1's don't come with.
Swapping between tablet and laptop modes is really easy. You just flip the keyboard around. Windows 10 detects this and automatically changes to the correct mode. I really like this feature, too. It makes it so easy to transition between modes. I can watch movies on the tablet and if I need to write an email or review a document from work, I just flip the display. It switches instantaneously.
The keyboard is compact but very functional. I had no problems typing at full speed. The keys have a nice feel to them and don't required extra force to type.
The battery life is pretty good. As long as it's not in heavy use, it seems to maintain its charge well. With heavy use, I'd recommend keeping it plugged in. The speakers have good sound. They aren't tinny sounding and has a good range from low to high volume.
This device has a lightning fast 2.7Ghz quad core processor and 4GB of RAM. Definitely more than enough power to do most anything the average person needs to do. And, with a 64GB solid state drive
Overall, this is a fantastic device. It rivals the quality of many top brands and I will most definitely buy Acer brand products in the future after seeing how nicely made this device is.
Great budget laptop
this is a great light weight laptop. its easy to use and set up took less than 15 minutes. this computer comes with windows 10 s. I take classes thru an online university and the etextbook we use requires adobe reader. windows 10 s is not compatable. This was an easy fix. i went to program and about and there as it shows you the windows version is a link that will switch the compiter to windows 10 pro. it was litterally a click of a button and i was able to install adobe acrobat with no further issues. The resolution on the laptop is not as crisp as i would like but i had no problem doing any homework or on breaks surfing the web. i was also able to use Word with no issues. overall i like this laptop and if your needing one for school or casual use this is a great choice. oh you can also fold the computer back to use in tablet mode. touch screen was very responsive.
Versatile Home Computer
My husband and I both have work computers, so we mostly got this computer for my children to use. They are 7 and 5. Firstly, this computer was very simple to set up. I am an Apple user, usually, but I love the new Microsoft assistant, Katana. I like the ability to use voice commands as I do on other devices.
I had a bit of a struggle setting up my email to the app, but I got that figured out, everything else went very smoothly. I was able to link my Google, Amazon and Netflix accounts in minutes. All these apps are available on the start menu and very user friendly to access and use.
I really love the 360 tablet option. I set some favorites for my son from his school website and he can easily access them and use the computer in tablet mode to play educational games and watch videos.
The computer is sleek and easy to store, looks great and fulfills all our needs.
A perfect laptop!!
This touch screen laptop is absolutely amazing,
It is a lite weight product that can handle so much more than what you would
The memory base on it is perfect for any student,
This is a great gift for those up coming college bound students,
It flips around perfectly to use your finger or a stylus,
My son loves it.
This was so easy to set up it has prompts from the time you turn it on just follow the instructions. It's nice to be able to go from laptop to tablet also. Just tap it at the bottom corner and choose either tablet mode or keyboard. My son isn't great with a keyboard. He's 18 and autistic but being able to have the option helps with his motor skills and having the touch screen is a breeze for him. He usually plays games and watches videos but I would imagine this would be a good buy for any child in school or college. We are very happy with it. We've had it for a month and had no issues what so ever.
Nifty little gadget
Getting used to a flip style computer is hard I am always afraid I am going to break it in half but surprisingly to me it smoothly flips and the tablet features work great. I can't be the only one who misses Cd slots and the ability to play my older games would be great without buying a plug in add on. The power cord for this tiny machine is massive and I am not a fan at all there is no way you will be able to fit it behind any furniture without moving the furniture. I do think another usb port would have been great sometimes I need to put in a couple while working on projects. My favorite thing to do with this is to take it on vacation with me to watch shows while I sit on the balcony of the hotel while everyone else is asleep in the mornings. I recommend this to anyone as a back up device incase your main computer is on the fritz or you want something small to take with you to stay in the loop while away.
Perfect Little Tablet/Laptop
It took about 10 minutes to set up and get started. It comes with internet explorer just like all windows computers. I like the little computer. It is easy to fit in my large purse. My kids can easily use it with just a simple 4 digit code. I downloaded almost 3000 pictures and videos off of my Galaxy Note with no issues. I love how it will automatically go to large words when you choose it from the set up. The only thing that I do not like about it is that to have Chrome downloaded, you have to forfeit using the S mode forever. I am a google person and have all of my accounts, phone numbers and everything through google chrome. I did add the Microsoft app to my Note to try and connect everything. I am just not ready to switch from google. Since I chose to have chrome downloaded, I do not get to experience S mode, ever. The picture for movies is pretty nice. It comes with office, which is awesome for kids school work and for me for work. I love how this flips for games and movies. This is perfect for a parent wanting to keep kids occupied. Overall, I believe this computer is nice, neat and worth buying. Who doesn't love a laptop that converts to a tablet?
Acer Spin 1
I love that this notebook is touch screen because my 3 year old can operate it to watch his videos! I like it also because I can surf the web and play games. It's lightweight, small, and another cool part is the 360 degree hinge which lets you fold the notebook! It's ultra slim, 11.6” HD screen, Bluetooth (which is great for playing music for me), Windows 10 in S mode(not too crazy about), two built in speakers. The battery life is really awesome! Who has time to keep charging!! It also has Cortana, Microsoft's digital assistant to help get things done. I don't really use Cortana on the laptop but I do use it on the desktop at times.
This Acer Spin has 64 GB memory, 2.4GHZ speed (the speed is wonderful). The only thing I can't figure out is how to play my favorite game on this notebook (UNO). I think it has something to do with the Windows 10. But overall, I like this notebook a lot. It's not very expensive like some notebooks and it's easy to set up and navigate.
Amazing! I got it for my daughter for school and she says its the fastest laptop in the world! Which I agree it super responsive and really fast and the touch screen is amazing but I recommend getting a stylus.
