Customer reviews & ratings
Never thought I would spend more than $40 on a cooler, but I did not want to spend up to $400 on one of the "premium" coolers. The Lifetime cooler appeared to be a good price to performance compromise and I was not wrong. The cooler keeps items cold longer than a cheaper more traditional cooler. Beverages stored with ice stay cold for days. The item is very sturdy. One could easily stand on the top of it and not damage it. Useful features include: carrying handles that are well placed and comfortable. Front locks are easy to use and appear to be durable. There is a slot to lock the cooler with a padlock. The drain is sturdy and a hose can be attached for drainage when full of water which can make the cooler too heavy to move. The lid and main compartment have a tight seal with a thick gasket to lock in the cold. This product is supposed to be "bear-proof", which I'd rather not test out if I can help it! Overall, very pleased and would recommend as a good alternative to the other brands.
Best Value Cooler
This is my 5th Lifetime cooler !! I know that sounds silly but to be fair I own 3 boats so these double as extra seating as well. I could have bought a Yeti or other expensive roto-molded cooler but it boiled down to MY needs and those needs didn't include 10 days of ice retention. Nor did they include the desire to spend north of $400 for an ice cooler. I didn't get caught up in the cooler wars and bought a reasonably priced and adequately performing cooler..and then I bought another...and another..and....
- Ease of use
- Value for money
55 at cooler
Have had cooler for probably 3 summers and noticed cooler had deformed on front where latches are located. I called customer service, and Gage, the service rep was amazing. He had me take a couple photos and he looked at them and asked me for my address and said a new one was on its way.
This is absolutely amazing service and taking care of customers. I can't say enough for Lifetime. Thank you!!
I have over the years recommend these cooler to friends and no one has ever had any issue. I guess I am just a Beta Tester, ha ha.
Better than a yeti
I am in love with my new Lifetime cooler. I bought it for a road trip camping trip in Arizona and Utah. Mind you, its summer. It held up like a gem despite the 102 degree weather. Of course, we had to replenish with a bag of ice just to top off once a day, but that is amazing considering the desert heat. 10/10
Great Quality Camping Cooler at Perfect Price!
Cost is minimal for all the great features this cooler provides. Insulating ability for camping is great, durability is great, Lightweight yet strong enough to keep a bear out. Shipping is fast. I do wish the Item could be shipping to Puerto Rico for less money though. Get this Item while they are available, they sell out fast! :-) John at outdooradventuredirect. com
EQUAL to that "well-known".. costs a FRACTION!
Awesome, premium, blowmolded cooler that's a THIRD the price of the well-known brand that's sold at the outdoor sports store! I toss it up onto the rooftop cargo basket, and hit the mountains.. the lake.. into the boat.. or just onto the back deck when we're having a cookout, and 2.5 years in it's just as nice as when brand new! my EXPENSIVE "big-name" version is already SHOT, and I paid OVER $300 for it brand new! I wish Walmart had this cooler back when I shelled out big bucks for the other one, now I can't wait until it finally breaks so I can buy another Lifetime!
Best. Cooler. Ever.!
Best cooler ever!! Kept our food icy cold camping all weekend and 1/4 bag of ice to spare!!
Great cooler!! Used it on a trip today and put mixed items (frozen and refrigerated) with a couple frozen water bottle. Arrived at our destination and unpacked 14 hours later, frozen stuff was still rock hard frozen and refrigerated was still as cold as it was when packed, probably colder. The cooler was in the back of my pickup truck in 100 degree heat and only cooling down to high 80s. To me, this cooler performs as well as my Yeti, for a fraction of the price. Wish they made 100qt size.
It is bear resistant!
I have multiple coolers but was traveling to Maine for a week camping and wanted something to keep items colder longer. Cooler performed well by keeping block ice for 6 days with 80 degree days. Did manage to keep the cooler in the shade most of the time but it was used (opened) often. I will give it a 5 star for being rugged. The last morning I woke to a 6 foot black bear trying to find food. He rolled and moved the cooler and even tried to bite the corner but was unable to get any items out. Cooler remained locked and secure.
So i did some research on the 55 and 77 and had seen bad reviews in the past but recently the reviews were so much better with a new lid and gasket design so i purchesed each. I have had the 55 for about 7 months and it has performed flawlessly but used maybe a dozen times, just purchased the 77 three weeks ago and to say i was impressed with them was an understatement! I pre cool because i own two roto molded coolers and it works great! These hold ice longer than both of my high dollar roto molders (seriously) ! I take care of my coolers , rinse and completely dry them after each use and with these, i never latch them when not in use ( per directions) as i now do with my roto molders. I used these two weeks ago for 8 days in the galveston heat and they performed flawlessly . I dont stack my coolers when in storage or in use but i just went outside ( in my garage) and noticed that both tops on the lifetimes are warped with the edges being raised.... not happy to say the least! Here are my observations with the coolers: 1- The latches are the best on the market but need to be relocated further out from the center! 2- there needs to be a suction realease vent ( other than unscrewwing the drain cap) because these things create a suction that is unbelievable! Five stars for keeping ice, 3 stars for design flaws! I know they are warranteed but that is a pain in the darrier especially if they used the same lid- and they will! I don't know what im going to do about the lids....! Trying to find an after market Vent button to install on them for suction release! I don't know why my 55 waited until now to warp... maybe i just didnt see it! Pics of each opened! When latched they are still warped!
Great value for the money, and lifetime stands behind their products!
I bought this cooler at Walmart after checking reviews. We have kids that play softball and are outside all day. This cooler can hold everything for a family of 5 on a hot summer day. After a few months the lid began to warp and not seal. I emailed lifetime support and followed the claim directions and they replaced the cooler. My only criticism would be that it needs a wheel kit, currently we pull it in a small cart at softball tournaments.
You have found your cooler
I own a 77 quart and have recently added a 55 quart. Ice retention after 72 hours is not a need of mine. I truly believe you could shoot a Lifetime cooler with a tank and it would function just as well afterward. Burnt scratched and mauled, but I would put my money on Lifetime products. Whenever I purchase any products I see if Lifetime builds that product first. Decision made if they build it.
The perfect heavy duty, multi day cooler!!!
Took our third trip camping with this cooler so I figured I would report back. They did a very good job in designing this cooler, seals tight, heavy duty, great drain plug and thick walls that keep your stuff icy cold. The third time we tried the frozen water bottle trick and that worked awesome. Just freeze about 8 bottles of water, throw them in an hour before you load the cooler to pre-cool, then mix them in with your other drinks, add a bag of ice over that, put in your dry containers, and pack ice around them. We got four days before the the bottles were completely thawed (in Arizona) and the cooler was pretty empty by then including us taking a few frozen ones out for a kayak trip. I think I will add more frozen water bottles next time it worked so well. I am so impressed with the 55 I am tempted to add the 28 for day trips or to use at work.
Great cooler, great price, excellent value compared to expensive coolers!
This is a great cooler (55)! Lifetime has listened to feedback since they came out with this cooler and made changes. It is a now an awesome cooler for the money. Bought mine at my local Wally World for under a Benjamin. The average joe has no real use for an expensive rotomolded cooler, IMO. This is the next best thing. I read a lot of reviews, mostly negative ones as that is my method. After discounting the flakes, losers, snobs, etc., I made the decision to upgrade one of our coolers to this model. It looked like the unit had been upgraded. It has. I am 230lbs and have no issue with sitting on it. It maintained ice on our trip for a solid 4 days. Way longer than our standard cooler would. We would add ice anyway since that is our way but we really didn't always have to. We took a trip to TN & AL in late June. We had to keep putting ice in our standard cooler everyday or every other day. I decided to upgrade to this cooler for our trip to the Black Hills of SD over the 4th. Worked great! See photo. The cooler fit snugly in the lowered portion of our Honda Pilot (all vehicles of this class are coming with this style cargo area now). I was very happy it fit as we like to keep the cooler accessible when we open the hatch. We keep the cooler in the car and get ice at stations since it is easier than bringing the cooler in the hotel or carting ice out to it. Only time we carted it around was to the beach at the lake. Cooler is heavier than a standard cooler, but lighter than a rotomolded unit. Handles are great and comfortable. Drain plug is big and fits my hand better. Leak free. Drains quickly. Best part is: 5YR WARRANTY! Lifetime is a company I can expect to stand behind their products. We have a yard play set and a couple tables too. No issues with those either. Thanks Lifetime for a great product at an affordable price point. We will upgrade our other coolers over the years to this line as well at some point. Thanks again.
Lifetime 55 cooler
Rugged and well built. If stacked and stored properly, ice will last as advertised.
I've had my Lifetime cooler about 4 or 5 months now. I spend a lot of time in the outdoors by far the very best cooler I've ever had! “Solid 5 Star”
Holds ice for 3 days if you're lucky. that's keeping the cooler in a 70 degree house. I'm disappointed. only thing it has going for it is I got the blue color.
Ready for the Hunt!
A few months ago when I saw news that Lifetime had an extreme cooler coming on the market, I was super interested in how it would compare in cost and durability to some of the major brand names of coolers. As a family who owns or has access to Grizzly, Rtic and Yeti coolers, this cooler did not disappoint. We attend Lake Powell during the summer and various fishing and hunting adventures throughout the rest of the year, so extreme coolers and ice retention are a must have necessity. First off the price of this cooler is insane and the overall look is pretty cool. I paid a ton more for two similar sized coolers and even a smaller other brand named one. The wall thickness (insulation) and weight of the cooler is similar to the other brands that I own. I was able to lug a full cooler by myself in and out of the back of a truck using the rope handles with the nice grips. The latches were easy enough for my kids to open and close the cooler. One thing I really liked is that the lid stayed up when fully opened and didn't fall forward while loading. I have another extreme cooler that the lid always falls forward and makes it awkward when trying to load items when your hands are full. The drain plug tether is also a nice feature as it's never fun to misplace a drain plug when you need to get packed up. This cooler not only looks rugged but is built tough. It was bounced around the back of a truck and sat on by multiple people during the recent deer hunt. It also cleans up nicely as we also used it as a Venison cooler to keep the meat cooled while butchering and then repacked it with food for a large family dinner a couple days later. For the days it was used, the block of ice didn't really seem to melt much but the temperatures had dropped and the highs were only in the low 60's. Come summer I will give it a real test against my other coolers, but with any extreme cooler, if you pre-chill and pack it right, it should last the entire week. The size is convenient for a quick weekend family outing or for a longer camping trip. Overall this cooler holds up to the hype! With its price and the quality of construction, I don't know why you would buy anything else. Hopefully Lifetime plans on making it in some other killer colors and sizes.
You will not be disappointed!
I am the sales director for a small craft soda company in Utah. It is vital that as I drive around I always have ice cold sodas for potential customers to sample. This has been a huge challenge for me because coolers have basically been a joke until recently. I literally have 7 coolers in my garage because I kept buying them, hoping one of them wouldn't disappoint me, but the product just wasn't refined enough yet. When the high end performance coolers started to hit store shelves, I knew this is what I had been waiting for, but until now it was unattainable; they were simply too expensive. Since lifetime released this cooler at a price much more easily afforded than their competitors, I have been able to enjoy its many benefits. I will share with you some of the ways the Lifetime Performance Cooler has made my life easier.
- The cooler doesn't easily slide or tip over while driving. I've had to clean up countless tipped coolers over the years, and I love driving with confidence knowing my Lifetime cooler is secure.
- The cooler holds roughly 60 cans with ice (72 without ice) so it will be suitable for serving even large events.
- I can put ice and soda in the cooler at the beginning of the week and it stays cold until the end of the week. It even keeps the drinks cold on really hot days.
- It has a hose compatible capped drain spout that I can attach a garden hose to at the end of the week and easily drain the water out of the cooler without having to pick it up, get wet, or move it out of the back of the car.
- It is light enough for me to easily carry by myself but heavy duty enough for me to stand and sit on.
- Even though the lids on my bottled soft drinks are twist off, the bottle opener is a welcome feature when my hands get tired or sore from twisting.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend the Lifetime Performance Cooler to anyone who has never been completely satisfied with their old coolers and don't want to break the bank to buy a nice one. You will not be disappointed!
Keeps food cold for days!
This cooler is unbelievable.
Some things I love:
-The latches are extremely strong, but really easy to use. I've tried latches on other similarly priced coolers that are a wrestling match to get closed. These clip right in and don't even take any muscle to close up.
-The grips on the bottom of the cooler make it stay in one place, or I can grab one rope handle and slide it easily across the floor. I'm not tough enough to carry this cooler by myself while it's full, but it's great that I can still move it around when needed.
-The ice retention claim is real. Lifetime recommends filling the empty space in the cooler with ice but we only filled it about halfway. Lifetime recommends opening the lid as little as possible, but my kids opened it several times a day for minutes at a time. FIVE DAYS LATER, we still have ice cold drinks in this cooler!
I'm so glad that we have this cooler. Can't wait to take it on lots of adventures in the future.
