I read this book expecting something good. Something interesting. It was neither.
The style is very annoying. 3-4 page chapter ending in some kind of contrived suspense, followed by fake history chapter of 1-2 pages, then Resolution and contrived suspense chapter of 3-4 pages. Until you have enough to call it a novel.
The "controversy" raised is nothing and has been speculated a long time; there is nothing faith shaking or challenging here. The manner in which it is presented is misleading to say the least.
The characters do not behave in a sensible fashion, they are merely something to move the plot from one fake history lesson to the next.
I'm not Catholic, but it seems to me that Dan Brown harbors some resentment against the church. I also felt a bit of smug coming off him through the book.
All in all, just a dumb book.
