120 Hz flicker...
Pros: -Superb price. -Lights up instantly. -Nicely built. Cons: -120 Hz flicker. IMPORTANT TO NOTE. The Great Value 60 watt equivalent led bulbs DO NOT exhibit this behavior, so they're fine. It appears to just be with the 40 watt equivalent ones. For the most part, this 40 watt equivalent led bulb is great, but there is a huge flaw with them. This bulb exhibits 120Hz flicker. Some might not even notice this, but there are also some that are highly sensitive to this type of flicker. Personally, it drives me crazy and even sometimes gives me a slight headache. It's especially noticeable if you're moving around. (Try waiving your arm quickly under the light. You'll see that it isn't a smooth blur and that there are distinct images.) I'll keep the 60 watt equivalent ones, but this 40 watt equivalent one has got to go.

Pleasantly surprised

I originally purchased 60W GV LED soft white light bulbs to replace 60W incandescent bulbs in my ceiling fan, but the light was just too bright for a bedroom (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Great-Value-GVRLAO1027D-Great-Value-LED-10W-Soft-White-A19-Dimmable-Light-Bulb/38591217). So I purchased these 40W bulbs and they perfectly replicate the output of light produced by the three 60W incandescent ceiling fan bulbs! A more natural and much less harsh lighting than CFL bulbs (that I had to replace every 6 to 8 weeks). I'm so glad GV offers this more affordable LED bulb option. I purchased ONE bulb at a big name hardware store for over $15! Now I feel like I'm helping my wallet as well as the environment!

Great 40W Bulbs (UNLIKE the 60W Vers)

In a nutshell: a GREAT 40W bulb. If you don't need dimming, this is the one to get (Great Value 40W 2700k). Only uses 5W, and gives a lot of light from those 5W! And UNLIKE the newer 60W versions (60W 2700k Non-Dim) -- which have a small but constant BUZZ that I can't stand -- the 40W version is totally silent. If you want a good DIMMABLE 40W version, the dimmable version of this bulb is only so-so. A much better choice would be the Feit 7.3W 40W equivalent (goggle it -- get the 7.3W one). They're a bit more but absolutely worth it (never seen a better evenly-dimming bulb with a CRI of 92 and great dimming). But if you don't need dimming and just want a good, solid 40W bulb, this Great Value 40W bulb is the one to get. And unlike the 60W version of the bulb (which buzzes) the 40W version is totally silent. I have about a dozen of them, and they all work great. Hope this helps.

Great 40W replacement

I was shocked how well these looked when I turned them on. The color temperature and light output were almost identical to an incandescent. I will be buying more of these to replace other bulbs very soon.

So far so good!

We really like these light bulbs. They are faster to respond than cfl's and so far we have not had a single one malfunction or not work out of the package. They seem a bit brighter then cfl's and the energy savings has actually been enough that we have noticed it on our electric bill. We have been slowly replacing these bulbs throughout our entire home and so far we are about halfway there. We usually buy the dimmable ones and it has been nice being able to use the lights that we have in that manner because when we had cfl's we couldn't use the dimmers on our lights.

Will buy more

I got one of these bulbs to try it out, and I have decided to replace other bulbs throughout the house with this kind. It puts out just as much, if not more, light as the bulbs I have been using, but at a lower cost. Also, I like that it is not as fragile as other high efficiency bulbs I have bought in the past.

LED bulb, excellent price.

When I saw this bulb for sale at Walmart, I grabbed one and put it in my cart. $2.44 for an LED bulb was too good a price to pass up. I had recently purchased a bedside lamp that required a 40 watt or lower bulb. I couldn't see paying anywhere from 6 to 9 dollars for an LED bulb, so I stuck a fluorescent bulb in the lamp. The LED bulb went in as soon as I got it home. No issues with the bulb so far.

Good bulb for an LED

I mistakenly bought the ultra bright good value LEDs and it was way too white. This bulb side by side with incandescent bulbs looks the same. Good deal! I should not have to replace these bulbs any time soon.

So far works great

Have only had about 1 month and seems to work just fine. No long term usage to actually rate value. We will see how long they last for the true test.

good product at a good price

This item worked very well for me. I put in a fixture that has 5 bulbs so it gives off very good light. I really like the fact it comes on bright immediatly and you don`t have to wait till it warms up like a CFL bulb.

LED Light Bulb

I bought this one since it was as pricey as the other LED light bulbs. I replaced one in the sewing room and one on the desk. The quality of light was great. LED's do shine brighter and I can see better in both areas than before..

Led 40 watt bulb.

Great light bulb for a low price, puts out great light and is very energy efficient. I changed all the bulbs in my house with only this kind. Natural daylight is the way to go with such a low wattage bulb.

great product at an excellent price!

Replaced 4 CFL lamps with these LED. Better cleaner light without the "warm up" CFL lamps have to do.

LED Light Bulbs

Better than regular bulbs, bright, and don't give off heat, cool to the touch. They say they will last over 20 years. Very good buy
