I would purchase again.
For 16 month old Love that is all wood Love the natural wood color of box;no distractions Love primary colors for shapes Nice & smooth, although the edges could be made rounded. My baby has bruised himself by tripping & falling on it. Also, if the "lid" would not be removable it would be better in my humble opinion. My son just slides it off & tosses it aside. Although, he is still young at 16 months.
My one year old is a bit young for this but my four year old loves it!! Admittedly I love this too! Great quality and it's a little more advanced since the shape holes are on four sides of the box not just on the top.
Best Shape Sorter Out There
I've bought 3 different shape sorter toys in the last 6 months. Wish I'd found this one first. Fantastic!
good buy good price
very cute period product is exactly as described. works very well.
Beautiful. Functional. Ultimate hand-me-down material.
Beautifully made American craftsmanship. Clearly built to last and pass down from child to child, generation to generation. This particular puzzle box is a great way to encourage abstract reasoning, and just plain fun. Highly recommended!
I would definitely purchase this again
Great quality my son is pretty rough on things we definitely learn how to do it shakes with this he's 5 years old and he still plays with it from time to time great toy I wish they had more shapes and a larger one would have been great but overall...Great
Durable and fun
My 14 month old loves playing with this --- I got it after I realized she memorized the shape locations on a similar toy. The fact that you can only get one shape into each hole really ensures that she is learning. Plus, she can "operate" it by herself and it seems like it would survive a fall or two.
My son and I love this shape sorter. He caught on so quickly to it! However, it drives me nuts that the shapes that are similar are also the same color ie: the square and rectangle are both green, and the diamond and parallelogram are both yellow. At 1 yo, he gets them easily confused and it frustrates him. They should have been different colors. AND, where is a plain old circle? Disappointing. But other than that, we seriously love this toy!
Our old shape cube has lost too many pieces over the years so we purchased this for our one year old granddaughter who loves to put things together. I love Melissa and Doug but feel this toy is a bit on the cheap side and more complicated than expected. There are a lot of shapes and some of them are similar. Hopefully she will grow into it.
The pieces are the same colors with like shapes and very difficult to put into the box. Example yellow oval and yellow circle. If not placed perfectly they wont slip in.
These one of the best toys I could have found for my son. He is leaning colors and shapes at the same time. Loving it.
Our grandson had so much fun Christmas when he open this. He and daddy put them in the right spots and when they were done he would day again. Love that he is learning colors and shapes while playing.
Fun for any age
Real nice toy blocks. My grandson and I put the shapes in the proper spots in the box, then he likes to build towers with them. The reason for buying them was he had been given a set of these but it was missing 3 shapes.
Excellent learning tool
Not only is this an excellent learning tool for 3 yr. olds to learn shapes and colors, but also for babies & toddlers to sharpen their motor skills. I gave one to my great grandson and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Great Toy - could be Excellent
This is a great toy; it could be excellent. I'm surprised that in a classic shape-sorting toy: 1. There is no circle. 2. Both the rectangle and the square are dark green and very similar in dimension. 3. The lid easily slides off during "sorting". 4. Two sides of the cube have no shape slots, but the lid, which can be accidentally lost, has three shape slots. Great things about it: 1. Top-of-the-line Melissa and Doug wooden construction - sturdy and (non-toxic) colorful. 2. 3-D shapes are easy for small, chubby baby hands to hold. 3. Sorting box easily holds ALL of the shapes at once - no need to shake them "down". 4. 3-D shapes are interesting to feel and interesting to view from different angles. 5. There is a great variety of shapes (with exception of the "missing" circle), offering a learning curve for children. In other words, they're not all easy to do the first time. 6. The names and 2-D photos of each shape are printed on the back label. I even learned a new shape name! (Quatrefoil, the "clover" shape)
Great for color and shape recognition
This is a fantastic toy for helping encourage color and shape recognition with your child. My son has a great time with the shape sorting cubes. It is challenging and fun. Nothing beats watching his face light up when he matches the right shape to the right hole. It's also a fun way to emphasis color recognition too! Have your kid call out the color and shape as they find the right hole.

I bought this product for my mom who is in a nursing home I'm so excited to give it to her next time I see her
I would strongly suggest this product young children.
I also purchased this product as a gift for my niece. Great way to teach shapes and classification skills as well as eye-hand coordination.
Good learning tool......but don't let the child chew on the block as the paint comes off real easy...
I looked online for something like this to start to teach my grandsons shapes. They really like to play with it although we havent learned the shapes yet we are working on it. Its made of wood so itâll hold up to them being rough with it.
