Realy Great Cup of Coffee
I was so excited when my new Keurig 2.0 coffee maker arrived in the mail. My hands were actually trembling when I opened the box. First of all I have to say that the coffee maker was really well packed. I looked at every piece like it was gold. I wanted one of these for a couple years and now I finally have one. My first instinct was to plug it in and make some coffee, but let's be honest this coffee machine is an investment and I didn't want to do anything to mess it up before I put that first steaming cup of coffee up to my lips. I unwrapped the parts, set it on my counter and took out the books and began reading. That's when my excitement level dropped off. They had step by step instructions on how to do everything but it seemed kind of complicated to me and I started to think maybe I'd made a mistake. I persevered and read everything, all the warnings and cautions and instructions. I've worked as a restaurant manager most of my life and in many of my restaurants coffee was a make or break item. If you had good coffee you had customers. I've dealt with a lot of different types of coffee machines over the years. This might seem weird to you but the thing that impressed me the most when I first took it out of the package was the drip tray. Drip trays are more important than most people think, if it's too shallow and it can't hold an accidental overflow you have a big mess all over your counter, you know how coffee is when it spills it goes everywhere. This has a pretty significant drip tray which I like but the feature that impressed me most was the stainless steel plate that sits on top of the drip tray. When I felt the weight of that in my hand, I knew it was quality stainless steel, maybe even restaurant quality. That drip tray is going to hold up for many years. Now you might be thinking I'm a bit crazy but try to brew a cup of coffee after your brew tray breaks and you'll know what I'm talking about. This drip tray is not going to break. I've worked with coffee machines that cost more than $2,000 and they had $1.99 drip tray. I figure if a company is going to supply me with a superior drip tray they aren't going to skimp on the parts inside the machine. It made me feel confident about my purchase. I washed out my reservoir wiped off the whole machine, set it up had everything handy to get brewing, selected my first K-cup (Hazelnut) and I plugged it in. I had my instruction book open and looked at the diagrams again then the touch screen came to life. This is were my next amazement came from it guided me through what to do Step by Step. The first thing it did was preheat the water, that took a couple minutes. When it was ready it told me to press the brew button and rinse it twice before brewing. I pushed the brew button down and held it down. Sure enough 6 oz. of steaming hot water poured out and stopped. I rinsed it a second time and now the big moment was hear. I opened the lid and put my very first K-Cup in the coffee machine and closed the lid. The screen changed showing the brewing options. I made my selection and pressed the brew button and in less than 10 minutes from the time I plugged my brand new Keurig coffee machine into the wall I was tasting my very first cup of coffee and it was delicious. It was a perfect cup off coffee, hot, rich, smooth. It tasted like a coffee shop cup of coffee, no bitter after taste it was simply wonderful and I can't wait to try my next cup. I have a variety pack of K-Cups and I have a feeling before the day is over I'm going to have tried most of them. I'm eager to pick up more varieties and try as many as I can to see which I like best. I like the idea that as my day goes along and my mood changes I can pick a flavor of coffee or tea to go right along with it. The other exciting thing about the Keurig 2.0 is that it has a carafe. I'm a little disappointed with the carafe. It only holds 4 cups, 32 oz of coffee. I would like it better if it held at least 6 cups. I'm guessing it only holds 4 cups because it would need a much bigger K-cup to brew more coffee and you probably couldn't have any flexibility with 1 machine if the size difference of the K-Cups was drastic. This way Keurig gave us a good option to either brew a single cup or brew 4 cups. To be honest you can brew another carafe so quickly it's not bad. My first thought when I lifted the carafe was that it was really light, most carafes that I've handled were heavier because of the insulation and they usually had a metal surface so I'm sure that contributed to the weight. I made my first carafe, it filled up pretty fast 2 minutes or less and no dripping afterword like with a drip coffee maker. I feel there are 2 design flaws with the carafe. First, the cover only goes on one way so the spout is always open then there is also a hole in the center of the cover for the coffee to run through while it's brewing. So there are 2 holes making it possible for the air to flow in and out of the pot and the chance of the coffee cooling down faster. I don't understand why the crafted it this way? You should be able to brew it without the cover then pop the cover in with an open spot for pour and if you turn the cover it closes it, preventing spills and keeping the coffee warmer. The second flaw is that after an hour the coffee was still fairly hot, though not as hot as when it was first brewed and if you add cold milk or cream to your coffee that might cool it down too much for you. After 3 hours the coffee in the carafe was tepid, now if you added cold milk it would be too cold to drink. If you're one of those people who likes to brew a pot of coffee and keep it around for awhile this isn't going to work for you unless if you don't mind microwaving your cup but then you might as well just brew it cup by cup. If you want to make a carafe of coffee to share with family or friends then it will work great as long as your drink it within an hour. It's recommended by the manufacturer that you use bottled water or filtered water when brewing so the inside of your coffee machine stays free of mineral build up for a longer period of time. They do have a in reservoir filter you can buy and install to help filter the water and I'd recommend it, if you decide to use tap water. I am disappointed that they didn't include one. I'm not sure how much it cost but for the price of this machine they should have included the first one. They also recommend descaling your brewer ever 3 to 6 months depending on if you use tap water or filtered water. They have their own brand of descaler. I also think they should have included a bottle of this for your first time use. Those little extras would have made me a happier and more loyal customer. Overall by the cup or by the carafe the coffee quality is outstanding, the best home brewed coffee I have ever had. If they changed the design of the carafe so the cover didn't have holes and could be closed I would like it a lot more. Some of the other cool features are a really cool night light that lights up your water reservoir with 3 different color options. When you're not brewing there is nice digital clock on the screen and you can set it to automatically brew your first carafe of coffee in the morning so it's ready for you when you wake up. Even though I'm not thrilled with the carafe performance I'm really happy to have the Keurig 2.0 in my home and I will be using it many times a day.

NOT an upgrade
This model is not so much an upgrade, but a new way for Keurig to force you to by their branded cups- or cups that pay a licensing fee. The brewer WILL NOT operate unless their is an "approved" Keurig pod in the machine! I have had a keurig for years. We love it so much we have a keurig mini that travels with us on vacations. After seeing the amount of trash it produced and not being happy with ANY of the Green Mountain cups (which is keurig's brand) we have exclusively used the My K cup refillable cup. You cannot use the my k cup in the 2.0. unacceptable to me. I liked the idea of programming it to brew in the morning, this only works with the carafe. There are very limited options for carafe pods. The carafe only holds 2 travel cups of coffee. NOT worth dirtying the handwash only carafe- just to pour it into travel cups. The carafe also does not keep the coffee hot very long. So if you plan on brewing a pot and sipping small cups through out the morning this doesn't work well, it gets cold. I do like the bigger water reservoir. But this also makes the machine take up a lot of counter space. It is quieter than my original, if that is important to you. Bottom line, stick with an older version that gives you more options on coffee--not just a color change night light.

Easy to use modern coffee maker

The Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System with Carafe is an ideal modern day coffee making system. It is easy to use, as the screen gives you an easy to follow walk through on what buttons to push to ensure a fast and effective brewing. The flashiest features that this brewing system has are the fact that you can customize the system to make it your own, from the color of the water light to the color of your screen display wallpaper. As well as, the carafe which allows for a multiple cup brewing just like a standard coffee maker does. I personally love the carafe feature because both I and my spouse are coffee drinkers and do not like to fuss with making one cup at a time. However, we do like that the single cup brew option is still there when they want to drink fruit flavored coffees and I just want regular sweet and creamy medium roast. This system is definitely worth the price in my book because it is easy to use and great to look at. The design of this system is very appealing for any kitchen. From the couple of weeks of having this, I have no complaints!

Best one yet

I have been a keurig fan since they've first came out, I've tried other brands of single cup coffee makers but the Keurig 2.0 K500 has been by far the best yet that I have tried, this model with the carafe included makes my morning coffee the most effortless with the carafe packs, and the ability to set it the night before is unlike any of my former systems, I know that with the 2.0 series there are only minor differences such as the product can only work with 2.0 k cups but the carafe option is awesome in my opinion and the 12oz vs the 10oz is not much of a difference if you prefer quality over quantity.

Great Keurig product. Things you should know.

I have owned Keurig products for many years. The only drawback ever was when we'd have a group over for dinner and we'd have to make individual cup after individual cup. I've been eyeballing this machine since it came out. I'll tell you right off the bat it's everything you want in Keurig and more. The carafe that comes with the machine is sharp looking and functional. I like that I can still adjust strength per my liking and size of cup desired. The temperature settings on this are a breeze to use.. I love the touch screen on the machine and the personalization of wallpapers and time settings. The machine is sleek looking and about the same size as previous machines. It fit nicely in the same spot as the machine we had before. DRAWBACKS: This machine will not brew a kcup that doesn't have the newest lid. I attempted and got an “oops” screen. I called the company and this machine will not brew anything that isn't Keurig, so no offshoot brands and no MyKcup it will also not brew a cup that is older than 2014. We have dozens of cups in the house that are now useless. That's no minor investment. When I called they offered a coupon for two free 24count boxes but that still leaves us about $100 of worthless cups. Nice attempt, but it doesn't cover the loss or the fact that they didn't mention that in the description of the machine. I always liked the option of buying cheaper store brand coffees and making my own MyKcups with whatever I wanted. That's a loss. Overall I'm very pleased and would purchase this again. You still have the outstanding customer service of Keurig backing you up. I just wish I'd have known about some of these changes beforehand.

This is a great machine...

I have never owned one of these machines. It is beautiful, looks nice in my kitchen and makes a great cup of coffee. This is really going to start my day off right. I have a percolator pot so don't make coffee in the morning, it just takes too long and I have to make so much. Until today I have waited to get to work for my first cup. I really like all the features; you can choose to brew either a single cup or an entire carafe, I'm not sure that I will ever need a whole pot of coffee but I have the option if I need it. I like the touch screen it allows you to set the clock, chose your language, turn on or off auto brew and set the timer for the night light. You can also change the colour of the screen saver which is cool. Choose the type of beverage you'd like to brew coffee, tea or hot chocolate .The machine also checks water levels before it brews. There is an option that allows you to brew your coffee “Strong if you like it that way. The coffee is very hot and smells wonderful. It seems like Keurig has a large coffee selection so everyone should be able to find what they like and even try something new. I can't wait to try them all. Cons: The only Con I found was when I selected an 8 oz cup it made only 6 ounces. However when I selected a 10 oz cup I got a full 8 oz cup of really good coffee. Recommendation: Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Maker Brewing System with Carafe is an affordable first class brewer. It has something for everyone .It would be nice to have one in our office. It is easy to use, convenient and fast. I will recommend it to every one. I love it. I've had a great cup of coffee every day since I got this machine.

Simple & Stylish

I was happy with the Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System with Carafe as soon as I opened the box. Installation could not be easier. Everything was pretty much put together out of the box. There was no fussing with thousands of parts and had to figure out which part goes where like a puzzle. Although these machines are known to make quick single cup coffees, the Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System with Carafe offers K-Carafe cups which can brew 4 cups of coffee at one time. The Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System is not just a coffee maker. I love that it can make all sorts of drinks besides coffee. Some of the other drinks you can make with this machine are hot chocolate, teas, iced drinks, lattes, mochas, etc. It is also amazing that this machine can froth milk as well. Making coffee can't be easier, with the Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System with Carafe, you turn on the machine and it takes about 80 seconds to warm up. Just follow the directions on the screen and you will be able to have a cup of coffee in about 2 minutes, from start to finish. No fuss, no filter changing after every brew, and minimal clean up. Another convenient feature this device offers includes the auto brew setting. You can set the time you would like to have your coffee brewed so that you can have it exactly when you want it. It is already very quick to make a cup of coffee with the Keurig 2.0 K500, but now you wouldn't even have to wait for it when you set up the auto brewing. Not only you can have coffee when you want it, you can have it as strong as you like. For each cup of coffee you make, there is a preset setting for how many ounces of coffee it will produce, but you can customize to how many ounces you will like to make from each K-cup, allowing you to have a stronger or lighter cup of coffee each time. It is also very convenient to get a cup of hot water now because the Keurig 2.0 K500 dispenses hot water with a touch of a button. The problem with this feature is I noticed there was a little bit of coffee residue that came out. When you dispense hot water again, clean hot water will come out the 2nd time. Other problems I encountered with the machine is coffee splatter when it is being dispensed, I have to wipe small areas of the machine every time I brew coffee and also, my travel mug doesn't fit under the dispenser, which means I have to dispense in a smaller cup then pour it into my travel mug. The appearance of the Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing System with Carafe is sleek and very professional looking plus I love the light option of the water reservoir, which has 4 different color options you can choose from.

Can't be used with refillable K-Cups

First, and most importantly, the Keurig makes great tasting coffee. I like having the choice to pick different flavors for individual cups or make an entire pot. It's also convenient for serving multiple people. Instead of boiling water, running a coffee pot, and using the microwave to make various Teas, Cocoa, and Coffee, this machine does it all in less time and with less mess. The platform for the coffee cup is also large enough to accommodate larger sized cups. The settings only allow for 4oz to 10oz, but I simply brew once at 10oz, then again at 4oz, which leaves enough space in the cup for adding cream. It is a bit bulkier than I anticipated, taking up a little more room that a traditional coffee pot, but the water reservoir can open from the front, so I can have the Keurig on the counter, under the top cupboards, without needing to pull it forward to put fill it with water. The light in the reservoir is pretty and can be changed (white, blue, green, red), and the design is elegant, yet simple, which is easy to clean. It's too bad that the machine is made from cheap plastic, instead of metal. I'm not crazy about the carafe that is included either. For the price, I think the optional stainless steel one should have come standard. The touchscreen display is bright and incredibly easy to use. It makes a cup of coffee in under a minute and an entire pot in just a couple of minutes. The machine works by reading the lid on the K-Cup or K-Carafe. So, obviously, no generic or different brand cups will work in this system, but quite a few of the older K-Cups aren't compatible either. Also, the Vue cups won't work, so you can't use your own coffee. There is an upside to the scanning system - convenience and simplicity. A lot of the adjustable features that were available on previous models are automated now. Basically, by reading the lids, the machine selects the optimal settings. There is very little to mess with or adjust. I see this as a bit of a plus. Honestly, when I want a cup of coffee, it is usually early in the morning, when I am too groggy to be patient enough to be bothered with a zillion settings. A nice additional feature - unless the carafe is in place, it won't brew a whole pot, so no sleepy-morning accidental flooding. When researching this product, I came across some quick fix hacks that involved taking a hobby knife to K-Cup lid, then using an adhesive to attach it to the inside of the coffee pot. I haven't tried this method, nor do I plan to. In addition to possibly destroying the machine (and voiding the warranty), or managing to leach bits of adhesive into my cup of coffee, this sounded more inconvenient than simply looking for the cups that are compatible, which aren't hard to find. All three of the stores that I visited had a good selection of compatible cups. I would recommend this product (and have given it a higher rating), if it would work with a refillable filter.

You be the judge!

I received the Keurig 2.0 K500 last week. Upon my initial reaction, I was impressed. I've never had a Keurig of any kind before. The only time I got to use one was at hotel stays, where they offered free coffee in the lobbies or at the doctors' offices. When my son and I finally set up the machine and used it for a few days, I found the following: PROS: good looking machine (you can hear the ooh's and ahh's from friends) has different light settings that you can pick (blue, white, green, red) has touch screen to make choices the touch screen is easy to navigate can brew 4 oz., 6 oz., or 8 oz cup sizes AND a whole carafe of coffee has choice of "strong" or "not strong" for the coffee has button for hot chocolate and tea there is a variety of flavors for k-cups for Keurig 2.0, not included with the machine brews a cup of coffee in less than a minute brews a whole carafe in less than 5 minutes CONS: -the machine is huge, taking up a lot of counter space -you must fill the water container to the minimum level stated, even if you're just making a cup -condensation gathers in the water container, bacteria might gather if water is not changed daily/frequently -TASTE: since you have to use the k-cups, you cannot control the strength of the brew; even when you choose the "strong" brew, the coffee still tastes weak (when I use my regular 4-cup coffee maker with my own desired amount, it tastes MUCH better). This is the same for the carafe brew... weak coffee -you can only use the Keurig 2.0 k-cups... the old ones will not work. The Keurig 2.0 reads some code off the k-cups so if it doesn't have it, it will not read and brew the coffee. -you cannot use a k-cup reusable filter (well, you can by pass this... some videos on You Tube but time consuming) OVERALL IMPRESSION: Keurig 2.0 500 k coffee machine looks impressive initially. However, for the amount of money the machine costs AND having to buy specific 2.0 k-cups, I did not find the brewed coffee superior to my regular 4-cup coffee maker. Even more, I find my 4-cup coffee maker making much, much better tasting coffee. I am also irked at the fact that there are no reusable 2.0 filters on the market at this time. You must use Keurig's 2.0 k-cups... this means, you cannot use any other brands of coffee besides Keurig. Further more, these k-cups are not recyclable. They end up in the landfills. I tried to take it apart... coffee grind for compost, the plastic pieces to recycle but it is too tedious. If I had to do it all over again, I would just use my regular coffee maker.

Good for Keurig Coffee LOVERS(specifically Keurig)

PROS:The Keurig Coffee Brewing System Machine looks really nice. Right off the bat, when I took it out of the packaging, I was like, "Wow, it looks really nice." Overall, the instruction manual to set up this machine was super easy, in my opinion, because it came with numbers steps and diagrams/ pictures to illustrate what we are suppose to do. It is also pretty easy to use. Other awesome and cool features include the small touch screen where I am able to change the wall paper, time, color of light that shines through the water reservoir. The fact that it came with 2 K-Carafe packs and 4 K-Cup was definitely a nice surprise for me. I also really like the coffee carafe that came along with the machine. CONS: Although the machine looks really nice, I must say, the machine is a little too big for my liking. It takes up most of my kitchen counter which is not convenient. Also, this machine ONLY brews keurig coffee cups. (even old K cups will not work) I tried brewing this K cup that I bought awhile ago, and the machine screen displayed "error" saying how it cannot brew... By far, the fact that the machine only brews Keurig brand cups makes me question my liking of this product. Overall, I am on the fence of recommending this product. To sum up: if a person really loves coffee, specifically Keurig brand coffee, and does not mind this machine taking up so much space, I would recommend this product to him/her. However, if a person only drinks coffee ever now and then, and likes to try all brands of coffee and likes saving space, I would probably NOT recommend this product. It really depends on the person-whether he/she is a "hard-core-keurig-coffee-lover" or not.

The best Coffee Machine I ever had

The very first time that we used the machine, the coffee did not taste very good. I don't know if it was because I did not wash the machine correctly before I used it for the first time, or it just needed to have it run through several cycles, before actually using it. I can say that after several "breaking in" brews, the coffee tasted better each time to the point now when it tastes as good as the Barista made coffee I have had. I would therefore recommend that a new machine should first be washed thoroughly and then run through several actual brewing cycles before actually taste testing the coffee. The Keurig machine is very handy especially when we have guests with varying preferences. With our regular coffee maker, it was very time consuming to accommodate our guests, each of which had different tastes and/or coffee preferences. Even in a small group we found that some people wanted regular coffee while others wanted decaf coffee or tea. Some liked bold coffee tastes while others favored the milder coffee brews. Trying to accommodate each of our guests was often difficult and usually resulted in a lot of wasted coffee or tea. Now that we have the Keurig, our guests can choose from among a wide range of coffee flavors and can adjust each cup to get the strength and volume they want. Our guests are not reluctant to try something new since Keurig makes it possible to have on hand a large coffee selection from which which our guests can try something new without any concern that coffee or tea will be wasted The Keurig machine is so versatile that it also allows us to have the flexibility to brew individual cups as well as entire carafe. From a layman's perspective, the technology is amazing. Apparently the Keurig, "reads" each K-Cup, and makes adjustments in order to brew the perfect coffee, tea or, for that matter, any other beverage that is available. It has an elegant overall modern design with a color touch display and blue LED lights in the water reservoir that softly pulse whenever the water level is low. In other words, it is the kind of kitchen appliance that adds to the decor of the kitchen rather than detracts from it. The only criticisms I have is that I like to have my coffee extra hot. With the Keurig Coffee Brewing System, my individual coffee cup is hot for the first few minutes but if I don't get to it right away, the coffee will get cold. If I brew a pot of coffee and it remains in the carafe it will stay hotter longer, but after a while it too will get cold. If Keurig incorporates a cup/carafe warmer with its machine this would certainly resolve that problem for me. The only other criticism I have is that the machine only uses K-cup inserts.

Wonderful Brewing System

I was in the market for a Keurig Brewing System when “low and behold” this item was given to me for review…and I must say that I'm very pleased with it. It was very easy to set up, which I loved - and its just as easy to operate. The carafe feature is perfect for when I'm entertaining small groups; and when I'm not the single serve portion is ideal and also eliminates waste(s). I also like the multiple colors that you can set for the reservoir and the different backgrounds that can be set for the home-screen. It has many, many neat features (auto brew, etc) which suits me and my needs fantastically. Thanks Keurig / Wal-Mart.

Great Succesor to Keurig 1.0

This is a great machine! Great cup of coffee! I was so excited to receive this product! The Keurig 2.0 - coffee maker was really well packed. I have used this product for one week. This is my third Keurig machine and I love them all. It is a beautiful machine, looks very nice in my kitchen and I believe brews a better cup of coffee than the Keurig 1.0. The setup is straight forward and easy. I unwrapped all the parts and then I used the step by step instructions on how to do everything. I Love the touch screen which is very easy to use as your coffee controls. I also like the wallpaper option for the screen, and you can change the color of the light in the water reservoir. The LED water reservoir light is very cool. (please see the picture) It is a very quiet machine and the water heats up quickly. The 2.0 - makes a perfect cup of hot coffee. You just pop in the K-Cup and press the "Button" and you have a cup of coffee in about 50 seconds. I purchased a variety of K-Cups today and can't wait to try them. At first, I was disappointed that I could not use my old K-Cups. Then I saw a You Tube video that will show you how to use your old K-Cups. Love the carafe. The carafe is good for parties, instead of one-at-a-time, you can brew an entire pot. I used the carafe and the coffee stayed hot for about one hour. I wish it held more then 4 cups. The Keurig 2.0 is an awesome machine and I will be using it each day. I would recommend this machine.

Awesome Keurig 2.0 K500 Coffee Brewing with Carafe

Keurig has outdone themselves with this product! It is a coffee maker, tea kettle and hot chocolate maker all in one and it is computerized! While I definitely recommend reading the instructions, which by the way is written in three languages, English, French and Spanish, your new Keurig will not only tell you what it is doing, but it will also tell you why it isn't doing what you want it to do - for example it may not make that cup of coffee you want because you haven't poured enough water in to the reservoir. Your Keurig will tell you "add more water." Keurig is energy efficient, a great use of space (approximately 13" high and 12-15" from back to front depending on whether you use the drip tray or carafe), it is very quiet and once you pour the water into the reservoir and push start it will take three minutes to preheat (and tell you that's what it is doing) and once it tells you to open the lid (to put coffee or tea in, or press hot water for hot chocolate), once you push the lever back down, you will have a hot steaming delicious beverage of your choice in approximately one minute. Keurig will then tell you NOT to open the lid because it is too hot (to remove your kcup). Keurig has so many features and also has a timer set that once set will say "do not disturb" so that everyone in the family knows (or just you) remembers it has already been set up. Keurig allows you to set your language (English, French or Spanish), clock (digital or analog), wallpaper (choose from 16!), lighting for your water reservoir (white, green, blue or red) and you can choose to have your reservoir light on all the time or use as a nightlight and set it up to come on daily at anytime you choose. Additionally, if you choose to make a cup you can choose whether you want 4, 6, 8, or 10 ounces. If you choose to use the carafe you can choose 2-3, 3-4, or 4-5 cups in your carafe. It also has a high altitude, water filter reminder and restore to factory settings feature. It even has a favorites feature where you can choose up to three favorites. While this seems like a lot, it literally takes minutes to set up and then you are done. You don't even have to set up the time, etc. if you don't want to. Keurig has outdone themselves on this product and it is a great product whether you have a family (big or small) or are single, old, young or in between - you can't go wrong.

<3 Completely love it, & so easy to use!

Loved it form the moment I plugged it in. The large 2" touch screen is so easy, including language settings. The ability to choose the color of light is a major plus to customize it to your kitchen colors or taste. The detachable side water container is easy to detach and reattach for easy cleaning or filling. So if you may be worried about stagnant water, simply empty the container and refill with fresh water. The unit also has a water filter for safe water as well. The carafe keeps your beverage warm till done drinking it. Wonderful for making hot water just right for hot chocolate or even instant coffee. Making a carafe is just as easy as making a single cup. The touch screen tells you what you need to do, so don't really even have to read the instruction book that comes with it. Best of all, clean up is a breeze. Just remove the K-cup as easily as you inserted it and toss. It will also use the permanent filters for more economical & less in the trash. No hot surfaces on the outside to get burned on, meaning no burned coffee drips on a hot plate to clean up later. Will never go back to a conventional coffee maker again.

POOR CONCEPT :(

This is my first time and last time to own a Keurig, but I've experienced using one at a friend's house and my husband bought the K40 for his work. I wasn't too impressed because it's seems more complicated than what my friend had and she had the K60 version. My husband had brought home some of his k-cups from work and we realized that we couldn't use them because you had to specifically use the KEURIG BRAND K-CUPS. They tell you where you can buy them, but they're so expensive per pack and it calculates to fifty cents per k-cup. It's very computerized, but it's also slower than the other models. The older versions, you can use it for hot water for the same amount of ounces as the coffee. This version, you have to hold the button the whole time and it will only allow you six ounces of water or less and the amount is inconsistent because then you have to wait and start the process all over to get more hot water. Also, I thought, I would appreciate the new Carafe feature, but it turns out that the pot I brewed using the samples included were too weak for four cups. I would not recommend this product, but the older versions instead.

Check The Box before Leaving the Parkinglot

Verified purchase

This is a wonderful machine with all of its new features. I had ordered from Walmart.com and Picked it up in my local store. I got it home opened the box and there were things missing and the water reservoir had a missing screw in the bottom. so I called keurig to see what I needed to do, they had advised me to return it to the store. So I called the store they said to bring it in and return it. So I did and took another one home that the store had in stock. Opened the box and everything was just perfect. Make sure that all parts are there before leaving this would have saved me 40 miles of driving if I would have checked! I wish that keurig was able to get a larger setting for a coffee mug. The largest brew setting is 10 Oz and a normal travel mug is 16oz. The Carafe is awesome as well having multiple cups available instead of having to brew each one individually!

Love it!

The keurig 2.0 system was a replacement for a 5yr old Keurig ... Love all the new features. I like the ability to brew a carafe and best feature is to set the carafe to auto brew in the morning! We bought the refillable k-cup and k-carafe filters, they save money and we can use or favorite coffee.

French Press is Best

I have been a Keurig lover for years. Even though in the past 5 years, I have had to purchase 3 new machines. I often raced to the stores to see what the latest selection would be in k cup varieties. I decided to purchase this model and raced home. Though this is very contemporary and aesthetically pleasing, the smart screen actually allows you to do very little. First, preheating took a good 20 minutes. I literally don't have time for that. Second, I do have large variety of k-cups and appreciate all brands but this model does not brew brands such as maxwell house, community, Folgers, twinning s, etc.... it only brews registered keurig brands. meaning brands that get a payback from the keurig company. so unless it has the keurig label on the box... it wont brew it. Third, the carafe only brewed about a cup and half. So not only do you have to purchase an entirely different K Cup to make a so called "pot" of coffee...there is no advantage if you can't brew the 3-4 cups the box says you can. and lastly, you cannot use reusable k cups that allow you to brew any brand coffee. This is all a marketing scheme, getting you to buy more products, labeled under the brand. I will be returning mine today.

Thank you for providing your feedback. Keurig 2.0 offers an all-new option of brewing a cup or a carafe. To make sure each cup of carafe of coffee is perfectly brewed, Keurig has incorporated technology that recognizes a Keurig pack and optimizes the brewing for the specific drink. That’s why the system won’t recognize non-Keurig packs. To make sure customers have a large variety of drink options, Keurig offers 250 varieties from more than 40 brands.
