IT Works~

For the price it works very well and does what it says it will do really havent had a chance to try it out much but my son and I used it one time and cast where it showed a fish and caught a nice large mouth bass! Coincidence or not it seemed to work, Im gonna hope we keep having the same luck when we have time to really try it out for a length of time!

Interesting product but did not fit my needs

I loved the idea of a portable fish finder, but the wire on the unit is too heavy and bulky. When I tossed the sonar out 20 or 30 ft, the wire would sink and drag the sonar back to me. It would be very hard to hit the target area because if that. The instruction manual suggested adding floats to the wire to keep it from sinking, but adding that many floats would be cumbersome. I do think that it would work well for a boater or kayaker that wants a simple sonar to look directly below the boat. It does seem to pick up the depth and structure pretty well.

Excellent for what it is advertised to be

I am shore bound most of the time. I use the fish finder to scan an area underwater to find fish activity - when I find it - I stop scanning and fish. This is an inexpensive tool (toy) that I like a lot. When I get out in a boat I scan the same way for activity - then anchor and fish that area. All in all - It is exactly what I expected for the price.

    Buy It

For the money it an exceptional bargain. It works. I put it overboard on a broomstick rig and cruised up and down the canal in my jon boat with a 30 Min Kota at speed 4 finding the deep spots and weed beds. Easy to read even in bright sunlight and it shows the fish. Have now mounted it permanently. The screen is large enough to see all of the details beneath your boat and depth readings are accurate. Just don't screw in a wooden broomstick to tight because it swells up when wet and is tough to get off. I'm pleased with this unit and the prompt delivery to my home.

Buy it , take it fishing

I got this to use on my kayak. I needed small , lite weight and easy to install. All I did was cut a pice of 2 inch pvs pipe about 2 inches long. I set it in the bottom of my kayak and put about 1/2 inch of silicon in tbe pipe. Then I pressed the sending unit down to the bottom. I then ran the cable up to the mount I made from a old gps holder I had. The Hawk Eye works good and is easy to read in the sun even with polorized sun glasses on. It runs on $ AAA batteries. I fished with it for 5 hours and it still shows good power. For the price a good deal.

    Hawkeye Portable Fish Finder

I use this for pond fishing with my rubber boat and it does a great job for what I need like depth, fish locator, and bottom structure. It does what its maker says, so I'm pleased. I just tie the responder on side of boat and lay the unit on the seat,of course, its not like the more expensive one on my bass boat but it does its job

    in general GOOD

came on time. picked up at store. Went across the street to the lake and tried it out. Very complicated piece of equip. took me about 4 minutes to figure out how it worked, and get it in the water. straight down depth is accurate. horizontally not too accurate. generally it is simple compact and does the job. DOES NOT tell SIZE of fish. or what they are biting on. But that was not on the label I L I K E it. get one you will too

A good choice for the fisherman on budget

I bought this equipment because it was a most affordable, compact and simplest available. I needed for kayaking and fishing from kayak. It does everything well that the manufacturer claims for and the Hawkeye does eventually more than you pay for. Pretty accurate and sensitive. Shows the depth, objects in the bottom of the water and really helps locate fish especially schools of fish. The monitor is easy to read, batteries last for a wile. Easy to setup however the setup cannot be saved. A bit annoying to setup every time you turn it on. The other two things may need improvements, the very long cable is a hassle, it's not necessary because a stupid idea to use the unit from the shore anyway. It works well from a boat only. I shortened the c...

    99% what I expected

I am VERY happy with this product. My only comment is the 30' cord is not as long as you would think FROM SHORE. However, from any kind of watercraft I would rate it 100% effective & easy to use. I bought his because I could not find a reputable source to buy the "wireless" version of a portable "fish finder." If there was some way this product could be produced so that you were not attached to a cord, it would be extremely advantageous to use from shore. For now I will have to come up with a watercraft for fishing small freshwater bodies. DON'T GET ME WRONG - I love this product!

I am a bellyboat fishermen and found this to be useful for depth and if there is activity in the area. I do wish there was a fish size indicator, but otherwise good product. The connection for the cable is on the top of the device and would be better suited on the bottem with some kind of locking mechanism to lock in place.

Nice deal for a kayaker or john boat.

I purchased two of these and am very pleased with the operation. Sensitivity is a little hard to get right if you experience extremely varied under water surfaces. Also, the alarm does not sound if a single fish passes the area, yet the unit does display a fish. One of the units did not function but the return system seems to work well.

    Works great

Worked but it would not make the fish bite. Only thing to make sure of is that the cable is plugged in all the way, otherwise nothing will work. I look forward to using it on my next fishing trip.

    Worked as advertised.

Used it today for the first time. Worked great. Saw the bottom and fish. Didn't catch any though. Worked thru the bottom of my aluminum boat.

    good fish finder

I took this when I checking different places to fish and it worked pretty good in locating fishing areas. At least you know that the fish are there.

    Hawkeye portable fish finder

Used Hawkeye portable fish finder in lake Jessup in Florida and it worked great. Great for finding small differences in this shallow lake for slight difference in depth for summertime fishing.
