This machine seems to be the same as the Janome 8077 & 7330. I wanted a Bernina, but my pocket book said if I wanted a sewing machine, then I have to be realistic. I did a lot of research finding what others had to say about this machine and decided to go with the Janome JW7630. I have to say I am quite impressed. What is frustrating about sewing is constantly messing with the bobbin...however, not with this machine so far. I spun the bobbin wrong the first time I used this machine and it still worked without jamming. The sewing machine doesn't bounce when sewing. It did have a problem going over a bulky seam intersection and recovered nicely on a light weight fabric. I adjusted the stitch length to match the seams I was repairing, sewed along the cords edge to enclose the drawstring I was adding on my pants, and did a straight seam hem with no problems. Threading the machine was easy and threading the needle took me several tries since I was learning how to use the needle threader...still don't see how the thread goes through the needle's eye, but it works and that is a great feature too. I haven't used it on canvas yet as that will be my next project. I can't find any durable reusable grocer bags that can handle heavy items with a flat support bottom and decided to make them myself. If this machine can or can't do this, I will post an update. So far I like this machine, it looks and performs better than I thought it would for a sewing machine in this price range and it is quiet. I like the fact too inside it has a metal frame and is not just an empty shell with a computer board like the others. The added bonus of the 25 year warranty and the option of Walmart's added protection coverage makes this machine all the more attractive.
