This was exactly what I needed to use on my laptop with USB ports.
I ordered this item from Walmart.com after searching many other retailers for the same thing. I found that other retailers were in some cases more than double the price of Walmart. I received the item about two weeks ago and began using it right away. It works perfectly! No hesitation when you type or click with the mouse. It is just as if your keyboard or other device were hooked directly to the port.
We brought this to use to hook up one of our printers to a USB adaptor and it worked very well. We would recommend this to anyone using it.
I was able to connect my ergonomic keyboard to my Dell notebook without any problems.
Product stated it would work with any keyboard, the item was purchased for use with a Microsoft keyboard. The Microsoft worked on another computer, and other keyboards worked with the adapter, but the Microsoft didn't work with the adapter. Spent almost an hour on the phone (not a toll free number) with their not too impressive customer service, requsted the supervisor who finally came on after almost 20 minutes and didn't even apologize for the wait. after 20 more minutes it is his opinion that if I exchange the adapter it would probably work with the Microsoft keyboard. However, he couldn't be sure and it wasn't worth anymore of my time.
In summary, if it works with your device, it's a good adapter at a good price, but if it doesn't don't bother with their idea of customer service. I will no longer purchase IOGear products.
I purchased two of these so I could connect a pair of PS/2 barcode scanners to a USB-enabled computer. I then scanned the same barcode 50 times. The correct barcode was reported to the computer 2 of the 50 times. Same test results with the other IoGear USB to PS/2 adapter I purchased. However, when I repeated this same test with a different brand of USB to PS/2 adapter, it scanned correctly 49 of 50 times. Therefore I must conclude that the IOGear brand USB to PS/2 Adapter is faulty by design. I did not test this product with a PS/2 keyboard.
I wanted to use an old (favorite) PS/2 trackball on a new computer with Windows 7, but no luck. Fortunately, Walmart let me return the adapter, but I had to buy a new trackball.
