I purchased this TV to replace a Panasonic Viera that broke. Overall I am happy with the unit with the exception of the speakers. There is a ton of distortion in the lower ranges which requires constant attention to the volume control on the remote, especially when watching special effect heavy sequences. I would recommend this television, the smartTV capabilities are nice for this price range. I would also recommend a separate sound bar or something of the like.
i bought my tv a while ago, and i just have to be honest. this philips tv was worth the money, it has deliver ever time. i can say i have never had a problem with set. the sound and color is great. i am going to purchase another, in about a month or so. thanks walmart on a very good purchase.i would recommend the philips tv to my family&friends. thanks again.
My previous HDTV was a Philips, so when I saw this one for $500, I assumed it would have improved software. Well they deleted the EPG, as well the ability to have a clock displayed, that the previous 2005 set provided. WHY would a manufacture decide that these features are not needed, they are forgetting about their OTA customers.
The picture quality was great, and it did display the television station transmit resolution, instead of HDTV/SDTV, it displayed 1080/720/480, so I was surprised to see 2 of the local stations that brag about their HDTV broadcast, to only be 720 resolution for their main channel.
But deleting the "guide" button from the remote, and having no way to display the next 12 hours of program information is a show stopper. As well, it does not display the program synopsis when changing stations like the previous design did.
The FCC requires broadcasters to transmit EPG data, but no requirement to have a set display it.
I returned the set as this was unacceptable.
