One star is too many!
After getting this unpacked and batteries installed, I set it up on the table with the outdoor sensor next to the base unit and calibrated it to a known accurate mercury thermomter. In a few minutes either the indoor or outdoor temp would change and differ from the other by at least 2°. I recalibrated it several times and would eventually get the same result. Finally the next morning, they both said 68°, but the humidity was still way off by 7% of each other. I gave up and just put the outdoor sensor outside on the North wall.
Now is late October in Minnesota and the temps outside are very cool. It was in the 40s that morning based on my outdoor thermometers. The outdoor temp on the weather station display slowly dropped to 44°, seemed to be about correct. But as the day progressed, the actual temp outside reached a high of 57°. Then the weather station display said 68°, same temp as inside the house when it was much cooler outside! How do you explain that other than this unit is a piece of junk?! On top of that, the outdoor humidity showed a desert dry reading of 21%. (In Minnesota, Land of 10,000 Lakes, at 57°!)
I took the unit back to the store for a refund and bought a better brand from somewhere else which isn't calibratable or 100% accurate either, but at least proven to be within 2°.
Don't buy the Acurite garbage!
