I have been using Straight Talk for about two years now. I started with the LG Optimus with the slide out keyboard. Previously, I had been using BlackBerry phones for about 10 years until I left my company. Even though I liked my LG Optimus, I really missed the familiarity of the BlackBerry so I decided to replace my Optimus. I had this particular BlackBerry about 4 models ago so it was quite a step back but everything I loved was all there.
I don't believe this is considered to be a smart phone. If you are looking to play Words with Friends, watch movies and change the world, this probably isn't what you are looking for. The #1 I thing I missed was the format that BlackBerry uses for their email app and their calendar. It just worked for me. BlackBerry doesn't use the Android platform, it has its own OS.
The biggest plus I found with this BlackBerry is the battery life. My LG would barely have a charge after 10 hours - I would charge it each night and 10 hours later, it was dead even if I didn't make a single call or read an email. not the case with this BlackBerry! I think it holds a charge for nearly three days. That is a big plus to me!
I have a Kindle Fire HDX, several laptops, A BlackBerry Playbook, etc so I can do all of the fun stuff like watch movies, play games, surf the internet on those. I am not a heavy phone user but, in this day and age, you kind of can't be without a cell phone. Actually, I think the function I use most is the clock. I don't wear a watch so my phone serves that function.
There are much nicer models of Blackberries out there but not available with smart talk. If you've had a BlackBerry before and loved it, you will love this. This model is not the latest but it is the best straight talk phone for me.
