I am new to the sport and did not want to spend more than I had to until I knew what I wanted. I think it is a good board for a beginner. It arrived in good condition and appears to be well made. The fins and handle were easy to install. I was a little freaked out when I leaned it against the wall for a while and it had a dent in it where it was touching something, but I guess this happens with soft boards. The directions said it would straighten out in a few minutes, and it did. It is just important to be sure it is not leaning against anything sharp. It is really unbelievable how lightweight the board is. I am a small woman and opted for this over some of the bigger, longer boards in favor of the lightweight version I can handle on my own. It is shorter than many, but since I have nothing to compare it to, that didn't bother me. I guess it would be slower and not as easy to paddle as a longer board, but I am not trying to race or go long distances, just play around on our local waterways, see some wildlife, and get some exercise. So far, I am just having a lot of fun with it. I have only used it on calm river water, so I don't know how stable it will be in chop or surf.
This is a fun board. I am 5'10 and weigh 140 and had no buoyancy problems. Board is very stable. Wanted something that was a fun overall board that my friends could use. But I love it so I will be using it to. The deck padding is a little rough. It gets tough to let your toes slide into position but I am sure I will get use to that. Other than that, great stability, fast on a lake. Great in the ocean and on nice rolling waves. Can't wait to try it on a little bigger swell. I would definitely buy another, this board is made very well. Love it and I normally ride a Kings.
