My shar pei-beagle mix is now eight months and 40 pounds. He had recurring digestive problems and Healthy Naturals was the food he was on when they stopped (two months now). So after all the vet visits (which slowed down, but didn't eliminate the problem) I'm not going to quit a good thing, whether the food is the reason or not. I checked the ingredients, and order of ingredients, and they matched or exceeded what everyone says are optimum for a good dog food. We didn't do a lot of switching--just two very premium brands since twelve weeks, but this one is doing just fine. This much I know: He digests it well and he likes it. It is small, so he swallows it whole unless given as a treat. But a smaller dog will probably chew it. I would like him to chew it for the excercise but will give this up for the other benefits. Energy level, coat, and weight seem fine. I think most premium foods are probably good, but Healthy Naturals is working for us and I can't wait to go up to the adult size. I like the idea that you probably don't have to give a supplemental vitamin. Haven't tried mixing it with water, or adding sauce since he's eating it fine as it is but kind of like that sauce idea. That's probably more for me than him.
