I used this product as my bed & desk when I lived in a very small room in an apartment I rented with a friend while I was in college. It is great for saving space, which was my goal. The desk is /huge/. It's as long as the bed and is deep enough that you'll have room for everything (I had a printer, my laptop, and all the shelves full and that's still only about 3/5 of the desk space!) The assembly is an absolute pain; two people are recommended to do it. My roommate helped me out for part of it, which was useful. It takes about 3-6 hours to set up, depending on how quickly you go and whether you're by yourself. I would recommended putting a strip of carpeting or something on the ladder as they are painful if you're barefoot (and if you're climbing into bed, you should probably be barefoot). Good height, good build. Wobbles a little bit, but I didn't have it bolted into the wall since I didn't feel like paying for a hole in the wall at the apartment, but I didn't have any issues even though we lived about 200 feet from a train track. I used a 6" mattress, but I think it says you can use up to a 10". I would only use more than 6" for adults that don't use the side railings, as they become quite useless at that point. But with the weight limit, you can definitely put a 10" mattress and an average sized adult without any issues. Even sold it when I moved out, so it holds its value.
