Ball jars are definitely the standard for home canning. These 12 oz. jars are the perfect size for jam that you eat a lot of, for long pickles like dilly beans or pickled carrots. In short, I find that I use the 12 and 16 oz. jars more than any other sizes. Ball jars are the best and least expensive jars available to the home canner. They are useful for many other purposes, as well, AND they can be reused. Altogether, a great and underappreciated product.
