Good for IR, not so much UHF 11/10/2012

I bought this specifically because it does UHF AND my DP501 receiver was listed as supported. The 501 is an older DVR receiver and the UHF of this remote does NOT work with it. If you use the IR setting it works perfectly. In all fairness the packaging has two sections, one with a list of "single tv receivers (IR)" and on for "two TV receivers TV1 and TV2 locations (IR/UHF).
My old UHF remote has button sections dying and cleaning it did very little to help, so I was truly hoping this would be at least a satisfactory replacement, it isn't. I guess I should have "assumed" that since there was no section "single TV receivers (UHF)" that none of the single receivers with UHF capabilities were compatible.
As an IR remote I would give this 5 stars but deducted one because of the UHF/DP501 incompatibility. It has better IR range than any of my other IR remotes. It works great as an IR remote with my DP301 receiver also.
One little quirk I noticed about setting the remote address. Once it is set it didn't want to be set a second time unless I flipped the IR/UHF switch. Then it could be set again. This had to be done each time I wanted to change it. It retains the remote address irregardless of the IR/UHF switch setting so setting it on the UHF setting and then switching it back to the IR setting so it works with my equipment is no problem.
This remote works so well I decided to keep it anyway.
