I'm going to start with a little bit of background....I am an online student, and previously owned a Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop. Over the course of that laptop's life I went through 7 hard drives and 4 disk drives...luckily the warranty I purchased covered all these parts.
Anyway, I assumed that I would have less problems if I purchased an ASUS this time around, because I have heard nothing but great things about the quality of their products. After much searching I settled on this laptop because I believed the specifications it offered for the price were a really good value. However, from the time I took it out of the box I have had headache after headache with this thing! I still can't believe how long it takes to boot up, most of the text on my web-pages is tiny and I'm still trying to figure out how to adjust that, anything I play with the media player cuts off two inches on either side of the screen even when I switch it to different modes, the mouse pad is absolutely terrible, and the processing speed doesn't function even as fast as my old 1.5 Ghz dell did. There is something seriously wrong with this picture!
However, with all of that said there are also a few good things about this product; 1) It comes with a nice warranty, which is always important. 2) It looks and feels like a high quality product and it has run all the applications I've asked it to. 3) The keyboard is really nice and easy to use. 4) The price is not over the top.
Overall, I had to give this product only an average rating simply because I am not impressed with the speed or ease of use on this device. It is a high quality machine, and may be great for some users; however, if you are purchasing this product in the hopes that it will impress you with it's capabilities...don't. In a nutshell, "It's solid, but not particularly impressive."
