After researching for video cameras for my 47" LED Vizio TV to use the Skype feature, I found no others are compatible and that Vizio makes their TV's proprietary. The price at Walmart was much better than through Vizio. Hooking it up with HDMI cable and loading/running the app is a no-brainer. My internet service speed is around 10Mbps over 1 and had no problems making a connection with another on Skype. You'll need plenty of light in the room in order for the other party to be able to see you. I Skyped with my girlfriend on her iPhone from the same room, same level of light in a dark-paneled room, and her video from her phone was plenty bright yet she could barely see me. The picture was more grainy than when Skyping on computer. The camera has vertical adjustment but no horizontal. Sound was adequate and voxed decently. For reference, there's no zoom and pan mode as with the Logitech Review camera. Also you won't be able to watch TV and Skype at the same time. As of my last research Logitech will not work with Skype. They have their own proprietary app. I would have gone this route for the added features if they did. To summerize, if you want to gather the family together to Skype from capable Vizio TV, and have a well lit room, this may work for you. If you have a computer and can Skype from that, save yourself the extra cost.
