Does the job
Works petty good, but can give some false readings every once in a while. I bought it to hang a tv wall mount, and it did the job just fine.

Trying to hang a shelf for books, so it's very important to not put screws into dry wall. I have got nothing but false readings from this product. I now have countless holes in my wall for trusting this studsensor. I will be returning this and never buying anything of this brand again! I would have given no stars but that's not an option.

Does the job

it did the job

It found the studs with no errors. The only bad thing . Was putting the battery in the device . You have to take the whole thing apart to get the battery in the circuit board and everything just pops out when you open it up and nothing goes back together easily. I spent about 20 min to get this thing back together. Other than that this worked great and was the cheapest one i could find.

Hello Dave. We are glad to hear of your satisfaction with the product. For future reference, the tool does not need to be taken apart to change the battery. Incomplete item

I bought this item from the store brand new and unopened and when I got home the stud sensor was incomplete. I could not put battery in it and it had loose parts inside. The reason i was going to try this brand was because it was half the price of other brands.

ZIRCON no Customer Care

Stud sensor not working with new Battery that had 2022 expiration date. Called Customer Service, I said does not even show any kind of light or current. They said diodes do not go bad, can't be the product. it's your battery. Had battery tested at Home Depot, showed 10v on meter. Zircon policy send it back with $10 fee to check it out. It only costs $15 to buy. I will buy Stanley Stud Finder.

Hi Gabe. While I was not privy to the call you made to our service dept., it seems clear that there was some mis-communication, or mis-understanding. We apologize for that. A very large percentage of support calls we receive have to do with battery / power issues. Many uses assume that any nine volt battery they have around the house is going to be OK to use with their new stud finder. This is not that case, but most folks don't realize that. If you had a good battery and your stud finder was still not operating correctly, then you have a legitimate concern. I understand that there is verbiage on the Zircon website outlining a replacement process that has the user sending in $5. for a replacement. This is actually not the case, and has changed recently. If you call our 800 numbers and speak to a tech, they would tell your that all Zircon products have a limited lifetime replacement warranty that is free. I don't understand why you wouldn't have received that information, but there it is. If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact us. False readings

I bought this to hang a wall mount up, got nothing but false readings and a bunch of holes in my wall. Will be returning this.

Hello. We're very sorry to hear of your experience with the StudSensor SL. This scanner is a basic model that is only designed for ½” or 5/8” drywall construction. It will only scan down to a ¾” depth. It does work. It sounds like the false/positives have something to do with the environment your scanning on. There are materials and construction properties that can certainly interfere with the scanners operation. We can trouble shoot this with you and figure out the problem.
