My wife has four, or more, and a two port and two single port Orbit timers. I bought the first ones four years ago and we've added more every year. And I also bought pressure regulators because at that time they were recommended by Orbit and the water pressure here varies quite a bit. With the regulators, sprinklers don't water the drive when the pressure goes up. With the timer, they save a lot of water.
It's almost like having a sprinkler system, except she can move the sprinklers. Every outdoor hose bib we have is connected to a regulator and a timer.
She puts new batteries in each spring and wraps the timers with an old towel in the fall so they don't freeze. It never stays below freezing for a whole day here. I've needed to clean the battery contacts a few times by rubbing them with a pencil eraser to get them going in the spring. Not too bad for something that stayed outside, rain or shine, for 12 months.
