Any pump this small won't work as well as a floor pump because you either can't get enough air in before you're arms give out, or you can't hold it comfortably enough to get the pressure where it needs to be. This zefal is a mini version of classic frame pumps that work very well, so I had to give it a try. I tested it the way I always do - deflate a tire completely and pump it back up. It took about 160 pumps to fully reinflate the tire. That might sound bad, but I've used so many of these little things before where you pump over 300 times and it still isn't enough. It never felt too difficult even towards the end where most pumps can become impossible to use.
Tip: grab a spoke with one finger while you pump so your hand closest to the wheel doesn't move around too much and break the valve stem off. It's less likely to happen with it's flexible hose, but breaking those stems off turns a good tube to trash instantly...
There are 3 reasons I bought this pump:
1. Cheap - comparable pumps will usually cost another 5 to 15 dollars.
2. the 5 inch hose that unscrews from the top. It's an old design that helps to prevent snapping a tube's valve stem and it's more of an uncommon feature than it should be, IMHO.
3. Size. It's 7 and 3/4" long so it'll easily fit in your pocket and weighs only 3 ounces so you won't notice it.
Overall, this pump is very good for how small and light it is. It's still a mini pump so don't use it as your main pump or you'll go crazy #and will also become very strong#. I'm hoping that it's as durable as it should be. The only part I can see breaking from normal use would be the metal crimp holding the valve adapter onto the hose. It looks a little cheap and it's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, aside from the fact that no mini pump is perfect, but it's better to have a good one like this than none at all when you need it.
