I knew it was time for a new computer when I tried to install a new software program for photo editing, and it wouldn't install. It said I needed more RAM, a faster processor, better graphics and more storage. I hated to retire my old Dell desktop Optiplex. I was comfortable with it. In the last 5 years, never a crash, not one problem. Like me, it was getting old. I got on the Dell site just to look around. I was impressed that the online prices were good, and easy to customize my own configuration. Since I do photo editing, I knew I'd need more RAM and more storage than the average user. I incorrectly assumed that I'd have to go to a discount electronics superstore to get a good deal. I price compared the websites, and the prices on the Dell site were better than the discount place! I also assumed that since it was a custom configuration, I'd have to wait for it to be shipped. It arrived 5 days earlier than the email told me it would be here. Since I'm a technical kind of guy, I've always appreciated the way the desktop units are designed. Changing out a power supply on a Dell is a lot easier than with other brands. I've also liked the fact that these come from Austin Texas. Being a Texan, it's another sense of pride. After unpacking it and turning it on, I can tell you that it's FAST. The pre-installed programs were great. It's also a lot more quiet than my old Dell desktop. Lots of USB ports here, front and back. Again, quality design. I've been trying to think of something I don't like, and the only thing I can think of is the white "face". My old desktop was dark black and grey... I like that color. That was one item that I couldn't customize. I'm impressed.
