I recently purchased a Remington RM5502R chainsaw from our Menards store in Grand Forks, ND. After using the unit two times, it failed to start. In contacting the Customer Service Warranty Department for Remington, I was directed to the local Home of Economy store for repairs. After being examined for greater than 30 days, the store determined that the piston had been scored and was not covered under the Remington warranty. After further conversation with the mechanic, he commented that this was a recurring problem in this model of chainsaw. Furthermore, I found that the second repair person listed now refuses to work on Remington chainsaws because of the inferior quality. I find that Remington does not support the sale of the Remington chainsaw and after hearing of the recurring issues, I will not purchase Remington or MTD products in the future.
