Great to have to make coffee. Just be careful on how close you set it to the fire. The smoke will turn the coffee maker black but it can be washed off with an S.O.S pad. Hint - place a coffee filter in the grounds cup to prevent grounds from getting into your coffee.

False Labeling

I was excited to get this home and try it out, but what a disappointment it turned out to be. It is labeled as a percolator but it never perks! I looked it up on other sites and the exact same model is called a coffee boiler NOT a percolator. Also, this model boiled over easily even on medium heat - and barely heated up on the wood stove (I have used other pots on the wood stove with no problem) So, if you want boiled coffee this is a decent priced boiler, but for the complete percolator experience look elsewhere!

    Fantastic little coffee pot for camping!

    I bought this just a few days ago for a weekend camping trip. The couple we usually camp with had an expensive coffee maker, but since they couldn't make the trip, I needed something inexpensive to take with us. Not only did this little pot fit the bill, it actually makes better tasting coffee than the expensive coffee maker! It works very well on our small gas camp stove, and was easy to clean. It also takes up MUCH less room than the coffee maker - guess which one we'll be taking with us on our next trip?!!!

    Excellent value for the price

    This percolator does not have the clear "bubble" at the top so that you can tell when the coffee is dark enough, so you have to play it by ear, or pour a little out to check. The others are so much more expensive, so I think this is a great value and I didn't have a problem getting the coffee to come out right. Just be mindful not to let it boil dry.

    Work great for the money! Makes a wonderful cup of coffee out camping. Would highly recomend a using a filter or you will get grounds in the bottom.

    nice to have

    It's nice to have a cup of hot coffee while camping. I use it on our coleman stove. Only complaint would be the coffee grounds end up in the cup with the coffee. I usually just improvise and strain it thru a paper towel. After all, it is camping;) I'll try to remember to bring a filter next time.

    great for a full pot of coffee

    This pot will not perk if you just want one or two cups of coffee not what my mother wanted in a stove top coffee maker.

    Coffee Pot should have a glass- knob window at the top to see how well the coffee is perking. Would not buy another one like it for camping. However, it did make an OK cup of coffee! Another good point is that the handle was not hot after perking which made it easy to handle!
