I am very pleased with this stand. We have a 47inch flat screen on it the stand is just the perfect size. I was afraid the stand would be too little for the TV but it's not, especially since the description says up to 42inch. I do feel like any bigger than 47inch and the TV would start to 'hang' off the edges and may not look good. The 2 drawers in front are surprisingly deep and hold more than expected, which is a huge plus. The whole stand is very sturdy and I love how it looks sleek and more expensive than it actually is. I had help from my boyfriend to put it together but the instructions are easy to follow and it didn't take us that long. Also, if any parts are missing, by chance, you can reorder them from the manufacturer for free.
I bought this to replace a full sized entertainment center that had space for a 27" CRT television and lots of shelves/cabinets so I needed something that had plenty of space for my gear. I have a surround receiver, VCR, and PS3 which fit perfectly in the middle shelves. The open side shelves are only tall enough for Blu-Rays so dont get this expecting to put DVDs there unless you put them on their side (also a possibility).
All the bays are deep so you can put lots of things in the cabinets (I have PS3 accessories in one and my playing card collection in the other). This depth would make for extra storage on the open top shelves if you have space around your stand to access it (which I don't so I only have things that I don't need often behind the front items).
Overall it's a good piece. Be careful with the material that it's made out of as it can get caught on cords and want to start to peel up. Shouldn't be a problem once you get it set up though and have everything in place. And this was to be expected as it's not as expensive for the size as you would pay for a higher quality material.
OH, and it took me longer then the "average 1hr" to put it together, though it went together easily and I think it's nice and sturdy. One person can put it together and slide it into place once it's put together but I would suggest getting help to carry the box as it is pretty heavy.
This TV stand holds my 55" TV, media center, receiver, and more without any problems. It looks attractive, too. Takes up much less space than my previous one and is easier to transport, too. It didn't break the bank, either. Thanks Wal-mart :)
My only (minor) complaint is that the shelves slide out easily when moving components for wiring, etc. Can be easily remedied by notching the undersides of the shelves where the metal pins hold them up.
I gave 4 Stars because it took so LONG to put together!! But other than that I would have given 5 stars on appearance and function. The outside of the box says it holds upto a 50" flatscreen tv and I think it holds true since the unit is 48" wide. The manual states it does hold 95lbs on the tabletop and 25lbs on each shelf. But be careful when putting it together it does flake easy on the edges of the particle boards. I bought it from the store it costs $10 more??? I also bought 2 mainstays bookshelves for $32 extra for lots more space :) Overall it was a great buy!
