Depilatory cream *seems* like a good idea. Rub on the cream and wipe off the hair, right? However, it is not a process you'd want to go through every other day due to the smell, mess and potential for skin irritation. Based on my experience, that's exactly what you'd have to do to keep the hair off. I tried using the product on both small and large areas. Due to the timing, you really have to limit one application to an area you can cover in around 30 seconds or so. Once you get into a minute, you've completely messed up the timing and the chance of a rash goes up exponentially. You also have to be very gentle in wiping it off. Getting aggressive will just irritate your skin more. The biggest problem I have is the results. For one thing, the removal was spotty. Some areas came clean while others didn't. For another, the results didn't last long at all. Within a few days, stubble was popping up again. My skin was still irritated from the previous application! The bottom line for me is that Nair was less effective and more painful than shaving, so I'll stick to shaving for now. For my knuckles (knuckle hair makes me feel like an ape), I just buff off the hair with a coarse-grained foam emery board. It works!
