Author Meaghan Mountford, who runs the famous Decorated Cookie website, has been crafty since she was a child and continued to be in her adulthood as she managed a pottery painting shop. That job led to a career of decorating cookies. She has honed her skills through the years and has now produced her second book, entitled Sugarlicious and published by Harlequin. Sugarlicious has fifty ideas for edible craft projects, plus a large section on proper techniques, including working with fondant, piping frosting and lots more. As me and my children looked through the book together and planned what we could make for the holidays this year, I was pleased to see how simple the ideas were. We really enjoy being able to make holiday crafts, especially the kind that you can eat! We decided to make the Sprinkle Marshmallow Pops right away and we used every colored sugar we could find — rainbow marshmallows, anyone? They turned out beautifully and were soo easy (and perfect to stir into hot chocolate!). Meaghan shares ways to transform cookies, marshmallows, brownies and more into miniature works of art, whether it is an edible crayon or a cookie mustache! Painted Petit Fours, Pumpkin Patch Cupcakes and a Pile of Posies Cake each have their own special charm. She has the holidays covered with treats like adorable Mini Hanukkah Cupcakes, Easter Bunny Cookie Pops or a lovely Winter Wonderland cake. Sugarlicious is a delightful book with so many great ideas!
