The CVA Wolf is short, light and a blast to shoot. Topped off with a Nikon Prostaff scope not only is it fun to shoot but also very accurate. My reason for the purchase of this CVA rifle was for the short whitetail muzzleloader season here in Tennessee. I will be trying it out this 2013 season. To date I have shot approximately 150 rounds through this rifle. The more I shoot the more I like. The CVA Wolf is a dandy low end Muzzleloader. Low end does not always mean inferior product, just not all the bells and whistles. The Wolf is a prime example of this. Light weight and easy to carry the short barrel and stock feels tight and solid. The trigger is crisp and the pull is light, this was a pleasant surprise. Most Muzzleloaders have the aluminum ram rod and the Wolf is no exception care must be taken or bending is possible, a bullet starter is a good accessory to use. When time comes to dissemble this rifle for cleaning the design makes this process very easy. Breach plug removal is accomplished without any tools. One screw in the fore stock and it will drop away allowing the barrel to be disengaged. My initial propellant was the Hodgdon Triple Seven pellets and I quickly change to a loose powder. Now my choice for this muzzleloader is the Blackhorn 209 with a CVA Blackhorn 209 breach plug. As for a powder charge I find that 80 grain per volume works best for my Wolf. The Blackhorn with a 50 caliber 240 grain Thompson Center mag express shoots 3” groups at 100 yards. This could possibly improve given the time an adjusting of charge and bullet weight. But for my application 3” is good enough. Good job CVA and thanks to Walmart for bringing this product to our local store.

I got this gun for my son that is 11yrs old and he loves it. We shot 75gr of loose pyrodex powder with a 200gr T/C shockwave bullet. It took about 7 shots to get it zeroed at 50 yards. With the 75 gr of powder there was little recoil. This gun is very accurate. We were cleaning the barrel between shots with bore butter and patches. I've owened lots of M/Ls , T/C , NIGHT , Traditon , CVA probably 20 different styles. side hammer and inlines. but nothing i have shot yet can do any better than this little gun. We just shot 50 yards but you could cover 15 shots with a nickle. Cleaning was very easy and fast. The breach plug came out easy with no tools needed after at least 25 shots. I noticed that antiseize was already on the threads from the factory. Everything was tight when you break it down and the trigger was also light with no creep. I really didn't expect this little gun to be this good. The very first day of the black powder hunt my son killed a doe about 65 yards, she never moved out of her tracks. My 14yr old son wants me to get him a wolf now that he has shot my 11yr olds a few times. CVA has made a gun here that anyone would be happy with. I have been shooting blackpowder rifles since i was 8yrs old and I'm 37 now and i have not owned a ML that is more accurate or more user friendly. Please give this gun a try if you want a great gun at a very reasonable price. Payed $186.00 for it. I have 4 ML right now that coast $400.00 plus and they are not built any better eccept for metal sights. and they don't shoot near as well.

Had a chance to go muzzle loading during deer season, everyone said get this & that. Could have spent twice+++ as much. Decided to go economy to start with, got the Wolf, GLAD I did. Testing before hitting the woods, (have never shot a black powder before) first shot at 50 yards, 100 grains of powder, 320 grain bullet, standard sights (no scope) 8-3/4" off center, second shot 3-1/2" off center. This gun is way better than I am. Easy to use, even easier to clean, you just can not go wrong. Saw reviews complaining they rust, duh, it's black powder. Clean it good, oil it & you got nothing to worry about. I can not imagine not having a break barrell muzzle loader, makes SO much sense. Be careful which Wolf you choose, it may be the last one you ever buy because you won't need anything else.
