Where to begin. As many others have stated, once this entertainment center is complete, you get a lot of value for your money, and a soild piece of furniture that looks more expensive that it really is. However, it is very time consuming and frustrating to put together. From start to finish expect anywhere from two to three days, especially if you are armed with a basic screw driver and hammer. The instructions discourage using a power screw driver. That is one piece of advice you should ignore. There is no way my wife and I would have completed this without one, and even them it proved a daunting challenge.
First off, the directions early on tell you to do one of the steps backwards. Luckily we caught it. Next, in the later steps, we discovered the Front draw panels are badly misaligned, which caused us to come up with a creative solution to fixing it. Also make sure the wood pieces are facing the correct way at all times, or you will be forced to deconstruct and reconstruct again! Many of the pieces are not labeled, so a guessing ensues in trying to correlate the piece with the picture. At this point, you may consider hurting yourself with your own tools just out of frustration. The floor boarding of the draws is flimsy so don't consider putting anything too heavy in there. The doors were also difficult to put on, as they were not aliging as they should be. There are points where things seem to go smoothly. The moldings were fairly easy to put on, but then there always seems to be anothet step that becomes difficult when you discover there are no pre drilled holes during one or two steps.
Two things you can do to help yourself, organize all the screws and bolts ahead of time, and lay it all out. Second, do dp any cardboard backings until everything is done. You do not want to have to tear it out if you realize you made a boo boo. Cable management system is decent, not great. Once it is done, you do have a very nice piece, but you will never ever want to have to build something like this again. The side pieces that esentially media center shelves for the left and right are a great deal easier to put together, for the most part.
Because it does look great at the end, we recommend it tentatively. If you have the time and the patience, and want to save some money, it is a win win, but if you are not patient type, go elsewhere, or else you will curse a blue streak.
Good luck and God speed!
