Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer
I used this primer on a deck that I had painted unsuccessfully with oil based redwood paint. I was never satisfied with the job. I decided to paint it semi-gloss white latex. The Zinsser went over the redwood oil base just like it said it would. After a bout with sanding the spindles, I decided to try and paint over the old paint and did so with excellent results. I also had a lot of green mold (or something) buildup and the Zinsser covered it also. I might need a second coat in places. I used a cheap brush and it has streaks in it. Or the finish coat might cover it all. Decisions, decisions. It's a good product.

I was very disappointed in this product
I was painting over a previously painted chest of drawers. I do not know if the previous finish was latex or oil based. I washed the pieces with soap and water as instructed by the Lowes clerk and applied 2 coats of this primer. The poor adhesion can be seen on the video attached to this review. I returned to Lowes and spoke to the same clerk, who told me I should not have used Dawn dish soap as it leaves a film. I then stripped the Zinsser primer to the previous finish, and lightly sanded all parts. The adhesion is now better, but with some force I can still remove this primer using only my finger nail. Fortunately this piece of furniture is in a seldom used guest bedroom. I don't think this paint job would hold up to everyday use.

A waste of money..

This product should not be on the same shelf with other paints/primers, this was used on our entire homes woodwork, it failed to adhere and resulted in having to be removed, yes, every last drop..the only painted surface that didn't need redone was where Valspar Bonding Primer/Sealer was applied..Never again will I use this or any other Rust-Oleum product...good ridden Rust-Oleum..

Getting ready to buy more

I have used this product as a color blocker and also as a primer. It is fantastic. Better, in my opinion, than Kilz. Painted over a dark green, one coat, with this primer, and it was ready for the light color I then painted with, which only took one coat. I have some of that cheap paneling in the basement, which I am going to try next, cannot afford to replace it. I have done 1 panel, and it looks as though it will cover fine, so I am off to buy more. No apparent bleed through.

Could not ask for a better primer for the price

Could not ask for a better product for the price Zinsser Bullseye 123 creates a Superior surface Bond on metal wood and plastic no need to scrub clean gently surface to be painted allowed to dry. I have used this product for years low odor easy cleanup. I have used this on dark interior paneling it hides great. Really seals the surface after all a primary supposed to seal the surface to allow the paint allow the paint to bond and adhere on top

2 coats

I used this to prime my wood cabinets so I could paint them white. I had to do 2 coats before I could paint which left me a little disappointed. I liked that I didn't have to sand the cabinets first though so that makes it a winning product for me.

Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer

Used on indoor ceiling watermarks, outside wood molding, porch floor and concrete siding and cardboard for an outside Christmas decoration. Anything with a Rust-Oleum name excells. Worked good with a Wagner FLEXiO690 paint sprayer.

Works great!

This is an excellent product! Used over patched drywall that had some light spider cracks and small imperfections. It leveled them out and sealed it. I used two coats and then painted. Well worth the money, and I would buy it again.

Excellant Product.

My wife and i bought a foreclosed home A few years ago. It is an older home but is in good shape. Had a room the daughter painted PURPLE. We bought a PEACH color thinking it would cover. Went through a gallon with very disappointing results. Bought the zinsser 1 2 3 primer and it covered that purple with ease. I highly recommend this product. Only draw back is it does have a order when using it, but does go away. We are very very pleased with the results.

Worked great

I killed the mold on my basement wall, scrubbed as much off as I could and it covered the stains! It did not bleed through! Thoroughly impressed!

Does not prevent tannin bleeding

I use this when painting furniture as a safeguard. It does not prevent tannin bleed through. The oil based Zinnser "Cover Stain" does that.

A good product for a reasonable price. Not always needed but I am using it to give my drywall a light coat prior to painting.

Disappointed in water based stain

I used Bulls Eye 1-2-3 water based primer on OSB, chipboard, inside a garage, and painted it on the smooth side. I did no other preparation than wiping down the boards with a damp cloth. It stayed on, but will peal completely off with no residue if I abuse it any. It did not block black magic marker marks. I put 4-6 coats on the stains, as well as 3 and 4 coats of latex paint. The heavy repeats of the primer did cover most of the OSB stained wood stains. I'm not very happy with the product. I'll be trying oil based Original KILZ next on the marker stains.
