First Alert SA320CN-2 Smoke Alarm with Smart Sensing Technology and Nuisance Resistance
First Alert SA320CN-2 Smoke Alarm
First Alert SA320CN-2 Smoke Alarm: has BOTH sensor types, photoelectric and ionization! Each type is excellent at detecting one type of fire (smoldering versus flaming) and poor at the other, so this detector is excellent at both. Highly rated on Consumer Reports. Good place to look to avoid smoke detectors which have too many annoying false alarms. Inexpen$ive which is great! Walmart had the best value I could find on these. And easy to order from Walmart on line with free pickup at your local store.
I'm glad to find it.
I'm glad to find a smoke alarm that has both types of sensing features and was impressed that I could get 2 for cheaper at WM than for one at my local L store! But then I started reading all the reviews and found that everyone was commenting that there was really only one in the package. I went ahead and ordered 3 because they were cheaper even if it was in fact only one in the package. When I opened up the box at the ship to store center I was delighted to find that there were indeed two per package! That gave me 6. I thought I would return the extras but instead decided to install ALL of them! I really am pleased with this find! <><
great value for a dual sensor smoke & fire alarm
Just what I wanted: a dual sensor alarm, a good price, test button, easy to install and mount, should be easy to replace the AA batteries when the need arises without removing the alarm from the mounting bracket. A minor complaint is that the green light that flashes once a minute to indicate that the alarm is working is small and faint, probably to conserve the battery.
EZ install/ low $
When our old smoke detector would go off when we started up our mower or motorcycles, I knew we needed something different for our garage.. This item is perfect. It has a "particulate matter" sensor along with a "fire" sensor all in one little inexpensive, easy to install, small little round alarm!! What's not to love about that?
I actually purchased one of these about a year ago on Amazon, liked it, and decided to purchase more from Walmart to replace the rest of my smoke detectors. The one I'd had about a year has been in the hall outside of my kitchen and I actually had very few false alarms - less than with my cheaper, ionization-only prior alarm. I am pleased. Walmart should change the description because as most (not all) reviewers note, you are only getting one. I might have been more upset by that if I had been expecting two. Between the reviews and the fact that one on Amazon was the same price, I was not expecting two.
after 65 years i am finally safe
I have always used smoke detectors in my home and after 65 years find out I was not protected, what a waste of money, now this smoke and fire dectector will look over me and my loved ones, do not make a mistake and not get the one that does both types of killers, smoke and fire, happy days to all and have a safe life
No Fire For Me!
It's winter time and cold. A house fire is always in the back of your mind as you turn up the furnace and/or electric heaters. Be safe by installing smoke alarms! These are easy to install and should keep a person safe if a tragedy should strike. A family here lost their home to fire last year. This year (if unprepared) it could be you!
Such a small price for a potential life saver
This detector uses 2 technologies to warn of smoke and fire. It has ionization and photo electric sensors to protect from both smoldering and flaming fires. It uses 2 AA batteries (included) and has a mute button to silence known alarms that are not threatening. A single sensor alarm can miss some types of smoke/fire. I don't feel that my security is complete without both sensors built into one unit, and the price was comparable to a single sensor type. I highly recommend this dual unit for single floor. If you have 2 or more floors, I would go with the dual detectors that wirelessly communicate with each other and all sound an alarm if one does. The price for this kind of protection is incredibly affordable. Walmart had the bet price by far, Don't sleep without it.
We bought this smoke detector because it uses ion, and photoelectric smoke, and fire detection methods. About a week after I installed it, it went off after my wife let some cooking oil get hotter than it needed to be. I'm not sure our old detector (ion detection method only) would have detected the problem as quickly. We are pleased with it so far.
Says "•Mute false alarms remotely" but doesn't
I purchased this specifically because it stated in the item description that you can "•Mute false alarms remotely" I have never seen this claim before and thought this was great as we have a VERY high ceiling in our living room. When a false alarm goes off, I literally have to get on a ladder to hit the mute button. Can I change the location of the alarm, yes, but then I will have holes in my knotty pine wood paneled ceiling, so it's best to just keep the alarm in the same space. ANYWAY, I got this in the mail, looked at the package and no where did it say silence it remotely. I tried looking in the clamshell package without opening it and saw the manual and there was space for a remote, so I opened it. Upon opening the package, there was no remote and the instructions say nothing about muting false alarms remotely. You have to hit the silence button on the alarm - that's not remotely. So now I have an alarm that is more expensive than the alarm I am replacing that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. I can't return it because it's open and they did not even send any invoice/receipt in the box. It might be a good alarm, but if you are buying this for the remote silence, don't bother!
